the free northern states maintained their status as free. see the kansas nebraska act, john brown, and 'uncle toms cabin', for more info on slavery and the war.

it's important to realize lincoln did not free the slaves until several years into the war. see emancipation proclimation for more info on this. in effect he said, "the union shall stay united, AND be slave free. north or south, so live with it.".

the northern states did great during the war becaus of their industrial base. however, the south was almost exclusively rural farmers and the effects were devestating. plus the war was primarily fought on southern soil. vicksberg, new orleans, atlanta were all destroyed/subjegated to northern rule. see shermans march to the sea for more info on the effects of war in the southland.

influenza and i believe measles may have been a problem too, but check that.

just too many to describe. see johnston/grant and reconstruction of the south.

Slaves joined with the union and confederate armies. they were not free even with the emancipation proclamation.

the economic downfalls of the civil war had to do with the halt in production of the south's cash crops and lack of a workforce.

Political effects of the Civil War were the creation of the Republican party with Abe Lincoln.

No, your not doing your homework. You are looking for other people to do your homework. Which mean you will not learn anything.
