Why has this terrible trend crossed over from America across the seas to other lands?

What makes young people so desperate that they are willing to kill people like this?

Will things get worse, or is there hope that we can prevent future massacres?

Apparently, some of you like assuming that I meant that America started it.

Well, that isn't necessarily true- but when you consider the statistics of how many students, teachers, etc, have been shot and/or killed just this year Alone, you would have to be a colossal ignoramus to conclude that there isn't something wrong with this society.

Maybe it happens elsewhere other than America, but the media does not show it, if it does.

I never said that America caused it. Don't put words into my mouth. But you have to see the reality of this epidemic here in the U.S. It is getting worse. And the fact that it is happening elsewhere outside of the U.S. is proof positive that it is not an just an American phenomenon.

But again, it happens at a horrific frequency here in the U.S. Wake up people. Something is wrong with us. Something must be done.

Violence has always been around. The difference now is that even the weakest person can arm themselves and seek what they think is vengenance on the people who have supposedly wronged them.
Plus I wonder sometimes if places like, Utube, myspace, this board, etc... don't serve to feed the flames.

"Why has this terrible trend crossed over from America across the seas to other lands?"

It's not limited to the U.S.A. and Finland. Japan is also known for school killings, only sometimes more brutal since they don't use guns to kill. Other countries also have school killings, only it the U.S.A. that get the most publication worldwide.

"What makes young people so desperate that they are willing to kill people like this?"

They were schooled, as simple as that. Schools caused a lot of people to not thinking straight and become desperate. In a kind of way, a school is much worst than a prison.

"Will things get worse, or is there hope that we can prevent future massacres?"

Things like these will get more often as more people are schooled.

To prevent things like these, require schools to be disbanded and people are no longer schooled, but good luck on convincing the N.G.O.s, the mass media, and the governments (who bowed down to the N.G.O.s and the mass media) on that.

It didn't cross over from America. Young people are the same no matter what country they live in. They all have all kinds of problems and try to handle things like adults. The adults are not always available or not taking enough time with their children to know what's going on. A lot of times the parents don't even talk to their kids about what's going on at school. Asking them about their friends, their classes and teachers? If they need any help with anything? Some parents are unconscious when it comes to their children. Many don't want to be bothered. Everybody goes in separate directions. So, don't go blaming it on a country.

luckily you don't hear of these things happening too often outside of America. personally, i think that because Americans have such easy access to guns, it makes a simple thought into a realistic plan.

Honestly, I'm very pessimistic...I think the trend might spread. There isn't anything any one can do really.

I'm just so happy though that the guy responsible for todays attack failed his suicide. little sh*t won't get the easy way out now!!

uh.. its not an american thing - it's irresponsible parents NOT paying attention to, spending time with, or guiding their children!

It roots back to the parents - they turn a blind eye because they are too busy, don't care, or are on drugs

It's everywhere in the world that children act like this - It's just worse in some places.

Alot of it too, is anger because the kids at school are so cruel, which goes back to the parents not parenting those kids either

Right, the USA is responsible for violence in Finland. How stupid of me not to have made that connection before.
