First time mom here..never been pregnant so this whole experience is like walking around in the dark...I am 17w2d pregnant and my pregnancy has been "normal" (not that there is a such thing)...I haven't had any bleeding at all, no painful cramping, nothing...all our visits have been great and the baby's heartbeat at the last visit was strong (About 155) and our next appt is 11/14 (we'll hopefully find out if it is a boy or girl)...the closer it gets to next wednesday the more worried I get...How can I calm down? Any suggestions?

Really, the best thing you can do is try not to be stressed. It is not good for a mother or the baby during pregnancy. Easy for me to say, right? But seriously, just try to remember that your getting worried about it is not going to help anything. A stress free mommy makes a happy baby! Try taking a few soothing baths in the next few evenings. Light some candles, and really relax. Think about all of the women who have perfectly "normal" pregnancies and happy, healthy babies! There are a lot of us! Good luck with everything next week!!

I hope someone can come along and give us both some suggestions. I am also 17 weeks pregnant with my first and I have been a complete wreck this whole pregnancy even though all tests have been normal and baby has a strong heartbeat. I think it's normal to be nervous and scared, I just want to be able to enjoy it more. Good luck to you!

just relax your fine, your babies heartbeat is very good. i was the same way, worried all the time, but if you think about it the worry will never stop..your going to be a mom, once your baby is out u will worry is she (or he) eating alright, sleeping alright..then when she gets older who is she hanging out with..and so on..its just your intuition. enjoy your pregnancy and take it easy.

For me, what helped me to calm down was educating myself. I read several childbirth books including, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way and Husband Coached Childbirth. Knowing what to expect and how to help myself really helps.
