Don't comment about "tourism" because from what I understand the world really doesn't want to come to "Visit" the US. They think of us as rude, fat, lazy people.

What will happen to price of living? What about price of FOOD?

Blueridge...no, I unfortunately can't say that I am not surprised. Sad isn't it? Thanks for the info.

Yes, the price of everything the common person has to buy in order to exist is already climbing. I think it is a deliberate act by the ruling elite to enslave the USA into poverty. That way we will be esier to control. By eroding the purchasing power of the dollar, eventually our savings accounts will be worthless, as well as our 401k's which are priced in dollars. Think I'm crazy? Think about how many people you personally know that are at their wit's end just struggling to buy groceries and pay bills. This creates tension in families and causes divorce. This in turn makes a society weaker and easier to control. Look at what happened in Pakistan when the lawyers tried to protect their constitution. This will happen here as well, it's just a question of when. So good people, let's save our great country while there's still time!

Ouch!

The USA is now exporting more food and natural resources (agricultural produce, dairy, meats, coal, and base metals) than manufactured products, because the cost of labor is so high here due to labor unions, the companies that produce here can't compete with foreign companies that produce at a fraction of the cost. Price of living, food, and energy will continue to climb at an exponential rate as the dollar takes a swan dive (it's already beginning).

The US is depending on consumers to prop up the economy, and it's main industry is the service sector, such as hotels, tourism, cruise lines, etc. Just like the Roman empire during it's time of decline.

The best way for the average guy to survive is to start spending less on doodads and start buying gold and silver. Gold is over $800, and silver is over $15, so it's cheaper to buy silver. The hard assets such as gold and silver will appreciate in price when the dollar falls.

Edit: Jose R is right- we do export a lot of weapons. The Military industrial complex is the main manufacturing center. We export bombs, guns, tanks, and fighters.. and we also export debt (by selling US govt. bonds).

I think we still manufacture bows and arrows. (lol)

I think we might still manufacture some metal detectors. I think so.

The packaging industry is still here. We are largely a service industry and of course, the jobs pay less.

We have less competition now. Have you heard the news about Citibank? One of the corrupt executives is walking away with $147 million. Another executive who is just as bad is getting around $50 million. Citibank is in a lot of financial trouble. No way should these executives be walking away with this much cash. No way. It's immoral.

A lot of manufacturers like Mattel are marketing organizations. As a marketer, it makes my blood boil because what marketing has become is not what it was intended to be in my view. But maybe that's what happens when you have non-marketers think they can do marketing.
Marketers get a lot of blame that they do not deserve. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Miscommunication or no communication is at the heart of it.

The major export of the U.S. is jobs. We are really good at that. The weak dollar is no good for this country. It is based on getting lower labor costs for Corporations from illegals and keeping the cost of goods down by importing them from China and other countries in order to keep the sheeple happy. This is a losing proposition because the countries holding our dollars can control our destiny.

The weak dollar does no good for Americans. What good is saving money if the money gets weaker all of the time. You might as well spend it on the cheap plastic crap that America sells. Better yet, buy drugs and overdose. It will be a less painful end than what is coming to Americans soon (economic collapse).

If we don't make anything, then why have we had record exports 6 out of the last 7 years ?

The US exported over a trillion dollars worth of products in 2006.

Making the US the 2nd largest exporter in the world, behind only Germany.

You say we don't make anything, but walk thru your house and look at where the most expensive things in your house were made.

Washer & dryer ..........US
Refridigator ..........US
Oven ...........US
Living room suit ...........US
Bedroom suit ..............US
Mattress's ......... US
Central heat and air unit ....... US
Carpet .................... US
Bath tub and sinks .......... US

The cheap stuff is made overseas, but the expensive stuff is all made in the US.

Just look at the heavy equipment the construction indusrty uses.......... all made in the US.

Viagra, Cialis and this kind of pills, some kinds of nappies. Besides that the US also produces cluster bombs and cruise missiles, but sells them only to Britain and maybe Israel (and I guess that it secretly sells these weapons to Muslimanija and to the KLA as well).
