A porter is a person that details or cleans new and used cars and service or bodyshop customer's cars including washing, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, engine cleaning and it can also include doing jobs like running errands or dealer trades, doing lot work like moving cars, undercoating and applying fabric or paint protection, general cleaning of the service dept, etc...

Porters have various duties. Washing cars. Pulling cars off the lot for test drives. Pulling up cars for customers after they've been fixed. Running errands. May pick up a stranded customer from time to time. Getting cars ready when a new vehicle is purchased. Duties vary.
