Many old people who still have power were openly racist 30 or 40 yeas ago, and I doubt they have changed their views. As for the young, you have only to read some of the comments here on Yahoo answers to know racism is still present. How much of this trash is coming from losers who will never have power to actually effect real world outcomes is not clear, but they are probably only the visible tip of the iceberg.
Things are a lot better than they use to be. Civil rights laws have helped, but public awareness and social disapproval have probably had a bigger effect.

Discrimination will always be there as long as people insist on pointing out differences between people. Example: in a discrimination free world no one would think to comment that Tony Dungy is the first black head coach to win a Super Bowl. In a discrimination free world, no one would even notice that he was anything other then a head coach.
Stop pointing out their skin color/sex/religion/etc... and discrimination will disappear.

Discrimination will never be eradicated. There are 2 kinds, legal and illegal. Legal comes from the "elite", that creates the laws, and it becomes illegal when the oppressed/discriminated fight back and makes the practices of that elite illegal. That seem to be the reality throughout history.

Of course discrimination has not stopped. Look at the Farrakahn's agenda and see what he wants. Listen to Jackson, Sharpton, and the rest of the racist mob and you will know the answer to your question.

Discrimination will always exist as long as there is racism and/or judgement on others mentally, physically or visually, and I do not forsee it ending.
