The divorce was 11 years ago. We've been married for 8 and moved twice. Mail addressed to her is still finding us. It's mostly metered junk mail. How in the world is it finding us and is there any way to stop it? Can we throw it out or do we have to send it to her.

Hey, I still get junk mail (mostly Discover) for the people who owned my home before I did, and that was 15 years ago. Some bulk mailing lists never die out.

But you've been moving around, so her mailing record must somehow be linked to your husband's. There's a phone number and website -- sorry, you'll have to search -- to get purged from national lists. Try submitting her name (with your current address) and see if that helps.

If something actually important shows up, it would be good of you to forward it, but all the junk mail (or "bulk business" as the USPS prefers to call it) can go into the recycle bag.

If the divorce was 11 yrs ago and you've moved twice since you married him and it's mostly junk mail thats arriving addressed to her...... I'd be very suspicious, could she be arranging for junk mail to be delivered to cause any kind of upset between the two of you???
As far as I'm aware junk mail doesn't follow you from address to address unless you inform the mailing list that you want to keep receiving it.
Return each piece you receive to the sender with the instruction 'Not Known At This Address - Please Remove From Mailings'.
It may take a while to stop it all but hopefully it will stop the problem for you.

If it's junk mail, it's probably because a company that had them listed as a couple years and years ago has sold their information to another company. This happens ALL THE TIME. For example, if they had credit cards in both names, and their information was sold, the new company, say a kitchen gadget manufacturer, will address their junk to her and send it to his address, since that's the only address they have. When you get this mail, phone the company and ask them to remove your address from their database, since the person they are sending mail to doesn't live there. Don't tell them that there is any connection between the addressee and your husband - it's not thier business. And consider that she may very well be subscribing to all this junk and giving your address just to piss you off. It happens... Lastly, check your credit rating with one of the credit rating companies. I believe you can do this for free once a year. If there is anything fishy going on you will know about it right away.

I know the feeling. SO had dutifully been sending it back with a return to sender note for years.
I sent a forceful email to stop sending us any unsolicited mail as the woman had left 10 years ago. It took two of such email then it stopped.

Go to the post office and fill out a mail slip that states her address. Make certain that you talk to the post master so that your mail is not also forwarded there. I did this and it worked.

The junk mail senders still have their names linked. You can just toss it or you can write "return to sender wrong address" on the envelope and dump it back in the mailbox.

If it is junk then through it away but if not then you can tell your driver that deliverys mail that it is not your and if it is possible for them not to deliver it there anymore that is all you need to do and they will make sure you do not receive it.

Write on the outside of the mail, "Return to Sender" and mail it back to whoever sent it to your place.

You can throw it out or send it not at this address. I would talk to your post man or post master to see if there's anything you can do as well.
