Depending on the type of business. A Good amount to start is an amount that can last you at least 3 years in operations.

As sometime the market need to get to know you before they want to do business with you, it is good to set aside at least 3 years operational budget.

Depends on the business. I've started a couple. One took me ~$300 another took me ~$25. It all depends on what you need for the business. I run a computer consulting company from my home. Not much startup costs there. If you want to start a retail store, you're looking at some serious capital outlay.

There really is no answer to your question.

The answer to what you are asking has virtually infinite variables.

To be conservative the answer is between:

$1 and $1,000,000,000

depending on what you want to do.
