Well OUR territory was part of the Louisiana Purchase and that was governed by the French if I am not mistaken! I guess that it would be "alright" to be a part of the French culture...as long as I could speak the language! I would drink the wine & eat the bread, but I they would still NEVER get me to taste those darn slimey snails of theirs!!! LOL *wink* ;o)

There are so many factors, that it is impossible to really figure out. I would say this is less history and more "alternate history" which Historians consider just another science fiction.
Living in Southern California, I can't say Mexico, because who is to say that without the American Revolution, Mexico would have revolted? Could I say Spain? Maybe, but they were in decline well prior to the American Revolution, so would they really have been able to hold on to their possessions in North America? Could say France, but without the American Revolution, would the French Revolution have occurred? Would the Louisiana territory still be nothing more than a possession to the French, with very little colonization? Without the United States, how would the second Industrial Revolution be different?
What about the Native American Cultures? How would their development be different?
It is really impossible to say, from a historians standpoint, it delves into the realm of science fiction, which I must say, is not my realm. I am a Historian.

France, Spain, Japan, Great Britain, Netherlands,Italy and Russia are my guess for the 7, maybe Portugal. At any rate of those choices I would have to go with the British, because we are closely related to their line of thinking.

I would be in England.
Not so sure if I would want to be a citizen there or not...it would depend on where I lived...a couple places there I liked...a couple not so much. Then again, the family is descended from Royalty...so I might have been living in Buckingham palace...hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

If we are going by where I was born I do believe I would be a citizen of Mexico. I really couldn't tell you whether I would still want to be a citizen of that country because things might be different than they are today. Just think how different things would be everywhere.
Good q, my friend! :o)
