NO, a quitter can win. One can quit anything but it doesnt mean that he doesnt have a chance to win a lottery xD

and a SMART winner quits, while they still on top and keep winning.

No it is not really that, so much as in the point of view of what is winning and losing.

In the case of drinking, drugs and smoking, those are addictions, there is no goal except maybe the coffin.
So you could say he successfully killed himself from too much smoking drinking and drugs.
So if he was depressed that was really his subconscious goal. So he won his goal, but if his goal is to live then he has to quit to win his life.
As each relates to the goal at hand as to what constitutes a win.
In the case of most goals that are set to be reached, if you quit you will forfeit and therefore never make it to the completion of that set goal. If out of fear you never even try you again forfeit and will never even approach achieving that goal. But if you set a goal and continue trying until you make it you will make it guaranteed, unless you die before you reach it.
Abraham Lincoln was a massive failure many years of his life, he went into the Black Hawk War a Captain and came out a Private, His store failed and the surveyor's instruments that he depended on where sold as parts to pay his debts. He was defeated in his first run for Legislature, defeated in his first attempt at Congress, defeated in his application for General Land Office Commissioner, defeated for the Senate, Defeated for the nomination for Vice Presidency in 1856 all of this defeat and he kept on trying, he eventually became one of the greatest Presidents we ever had known.

Interesting concepts...

I stopped smoking two years ago, but did not quit.
I stopped using pot 23 years ago, but did not quit (I'm on hiatus).

Quitting before reaching the goal, whatever that may be, is bad for the human soul.

Winning after reaching the goal, encourages one to continue moving forward to the next goal, that's why winners never quit.

I have a philosophy, that winners are winners, no matter what they do. You can be the best of the best, or the best as the worst, as long as you come out topp dogg from the rest, thats all that counts. What may work for me might not work for you, but as long as the person feels like they have won, props to them. I've seen people who are proud of being addicts for being the best at hitting the garbage, but as long as some one doesn't half as.s it and try their hardest, that's all good

It is about striving to do positive things. With this in mind, an addict would need to strive to stop giving in to his addiction to be a winner. Your analogy is illogical. It is like describing someone who successfully lost a race.

Probably not I would say there. But their not quiters, huh. Winners win if they do what's right. When they do eventually they win. No?

There comes a time in everyone's existance when you've got to say: "I quit!", and yes, in doing so, you sometimes actually win! . . .
