Doesn't 'blocking' another seem antithetical to a Q&A format, or am I missing the point of the tool?

I have never blocked anyone and nor will I. I enjoy reading the answers and like the opportunity to respond as well. I may not share the same views as everyone on here and that is fine. Blocking someone for the simple reason that they don't agree with your view is silly.

NO.
After almost a year I started a fan base. ( within these past two weeks anyway) After a few attacks I included a block base. Never over a disagreement. Given the turmoil recently we may all consider full blocks. Nothing worse than getting violations for age old comments that made sense. Just out of spite. That is as honest as I can be. Thank you.

I don't and it seems rather silly to block someone just because their opinions differ. Why they're some of the most amusing folks to read. :-)

Seriously, I haven't ever blocked anyone and don't ever plan on trying.

That said, the only reason I can think of for blocking someone would be to stop harrassment specifically against myself. I have seen attacks turn very nasty and personal on Y!A in the past and fortunately it is quite rare, but still the occasional outbreaks of that and other unsavory practices like cyberstalking seem to make the existence of features like user blocking necessary.

As of yet I haven't had to block anyone. The only way I would block is if I am being severly harassed by someone. I also do not report. I think in the time I've been here I've used the report button 3 times and they were all very vulgar.

NO

I never have an account that lasts long enough to block anyone.

Most accounts I open get suspended on my first question or answer.

For some odd reason ever once and a while Yahoo lets me post a few things before they delete me.

I don't have a block on anyone. I agree, it defeats the purpose of the format.

No I don't. But I have no problem with those who do. It is their right. I keep a list on my profile of those that have blocked me. Just for reference. I have blocked a minor who wouldn't back off.

No. I do give a thumbs down but only if I feel they haven't given enough evidence to support their point of view or if they say something that is derogatory or inappropriate.
It's ok to disagree.

No, I have never blocked anybody. i find that to be a tactic used mostly by trolls and people that just can't bring themselves to follow the rules.
