I turned someone in once, only because I was behind her in line at the store and saw her pay for the groceries she was obtaining legally. I saw she had plenty of money. She was hiding stupid things like dish soap, chocolate and fish food. (I guess I was in a bad mood on top of it too.) When she started walking towards the door I pointed it out to the cashier, she sent the manager to find out...but once they get outside (I'm told) there is no way to prove they stole it. I thought this was a lame answer, I think the manager just didn't want to bother.

Likely, I'd point the theft out to the nearest clerk and move along without getting further involved, even it that meant leaving the store rught away.
I would NOT want to be involved in a court case against a total stranger whose criminal past I don't know nor have my time imposed upon in such proceedings.
I feel that reporting such activites is the duty of consumers so as to deter criminal activities that cost us ALL in higher prices to make up for the billions of dollars from annual thefts such as this.

I was in JCPenneys buying school uniforms for my son and saw this woman run right out the door with a big suitcase. They ran after her, it was FULL of stuff she had not paid for and the suitcase was stolen from the store, too. I saw another lady and her daughter try to pull a fast one at Ross once. I said something to the cashier. He called them back into the store then locked the doors and escorted them to the back of the store. I had to wait for the cops to come. I hate stealing. It really p!sses me off. Makes the prices go up and we ALL end up paying for it.

I would open my mouth and tell the clerk. I might get a reward, and yeah I've seen people steal before and told on them. I actually got a free thing from the store for doing that.

I have and I didnt say anything.
I was in Tescos once and this man opened up one of the freezers and starting loading his duffel bag with frozen food. He was sooo brazen about it! Me and my mum watched him and he saw us watch him and he didnt bat an eyelid. Its none of my business and nowadays people will hurt you for much less so I'd leave them to it.

did you say anything?
for me it would depend. if i thought they were dangerous i'd take a few steps back. but when the police show up, i'd be an honest witness.
if it was a kid stealing a lollipop i'd definitely say something immediately, to the kid, his parents and/or the store manager.

It would depend on the situation. If it was personal yes I would say something. From a store? I don't think so.
