When replying to critical argument of bushs war they say... why dont you serve, I did so screw off.
lol
Or even when critical of republicans actions they just reply with the same rhetoric.
thats super. You served.
That doesn't put anyone above critique and it doesn't "guarantee" respect especially if none is given.

Its almost as if people get wrapped up in the almighty hero status some in society lavish them with.
I think its great that some choose to join the military and do what you do but stop letting it go to your head when your not in it anymore.
Americas worship of all things military is a scary thing. We've all seen that play out before in other countries in the past.

I don't mind an opposing point of view so long as you don't start calling me a dumb ***** like some on here.

Some also use their military service as justification to spew out their otherwise illogical or spiteful rhetoric and to deem themselves as immune to criticism.
"Hey, I served. You didn't. I earned the right to complain. You didn't, so shut up and just agree with me."
This is, of course, utter nonsense. No one "earns" the right to complain on the battlefield. That right is inherent to all, regardless of his or her abilities or contribution to society. Of course, we have no obligation whatsoever to take any of what they say seriously.

Certainly not all, right? Both me and my wife served, 9 years total. We both despise Bush, and his war.
Some military members are die-hard cons, and would say the same thing regardless if they served or not.
Others form a bond with the military (currently active or out), and defend those on the front lines. This sometimes means they defend to the end the CIC that sent the troops in the first place.
You still have to ignore rude trolls. You will always get those.

Yes some do, They believe since they have fought the war they Know about it than anyone else, truth is most don't . But it goes both ways they are angered at the war referred to as Bushes war. Its our war, we pay for it. we have to come up with solutions.
Billy Joel in his artistic wisdom said "we didn't start the fire is been always burning since the worlds been turning"...no all soldiers have the same rhetoric only those who feel these discussion minimize there sacrifice to the country.. which in now way it should. They didn't ask to go to war .. they just answered our country's call to arms and support its Government no matter how controversial an issue it may be!.

maybe they are fed up with "expert opinions" from people who have no idea what they are talking about?
"experts" on Iraq who have never been there, never spoken to an Iraqui, can't tell the difference between Shia, Sunni or Kurd and still demand to be treated seriously and with respect?
"experts" who think they have a moral high ground just because they repeat idiotic campaign slogans on "Bush's War" and completely disregard any facts- which the soldiers have seen with their own eyes.
But any attempt to present the facts only gets shouted down by the know-nothing "experts" who are full of emotions but weak on everything else.
"experts" so full of their own importance and "morality" that they cannot listen to reason.
After several such "encounters", one gets fed up. And sometimes just barks.
Yep, another Reservist here. No disrespect intended.

Military is the one thing that we cannot live without. Our lives should revolve around militart because it is the one force that's sole purpose is to ensure that you, I and future generations have a country to ***** about. Look at the strongest nations of history, and as different as they may be politically, they all have a superior military in common. Many, if not all, military people support our president and this war. I think their opinion of the current situation in Iraq, combined with their personal stake in being at war overseas, makes their opinion worth a little more than the rest of us. So does that explain why they are not critical of republican? Because *gasp* some people in this country actually support bush and his administration. Sorry if this is not consistent with your point of view.

I'm in the military and as far as political opinions go. We are not supposed to voice negative opinions about the current state of the government. It would look really bad to have service men and women putting down the government they are serving.

True. However, a lot of people believe they are entitled to respect due to military service. Something about having a rank structure tends to go to peoples heads. Is it possible that people hide behind it. Absolutely.
The flip side to that is it is against the law for some if not all members of the military to say anything bad against the president.

No, and I don't know anyone who does. What I do see though is those who don't agree with the war, when in a discussion with someone who supports it, thowing out the old "well why aren't you over there fighting" arguement. Or even lamer, "Why aren't Bush's daughters fighting"
One of the biggest problems in US societey today is that people argue\debate on subjects they know nothing about. The simply argue\debate based on emotions not facts.

Yes. It is wonderful that they do but I'm sure it's not all for altruistic reasons. Some may serve because it's ingrained in their families and because that's all they can do if they want to get ahead. It seems very unusual for the wealthy to serve.
Could you imagine Paris Hilton enlisting?
