Building permits?

I want to build onto my house and I recently found out the previous owner did not obtain building permits for adding onto this house will I be responsible for those permits now? Will I have to tear down the additions he put on? I live in a rural area with no restrictions. I have lived in this house for 10 years and just now found this out.

They wouldn't make you take down whatever is there. You will have to apply for permits for those structures, and yes are you responsible for this.
