I have an 04 grand am and had the same problem. Turn the key to the on position and leave there for10 minutes with the engine off, this should reset the light. If it doesnt it e=will be a dealer fix. The security feature that light is for is a fuel shut off incase the wrong key is used or if the ignition is popped in a car theft.

You have to re-learn the VATS. Just turn the ignition on and let the car sit for about ten minutes. Some of these had to have a scanner connected to do an official re-learn. All the computers need is a chance to learn what the right voltage needs to be now that something has been altered.

Jusseppe has it right. turn ignition to on light will flash after around 10 minutes the light will remain on when you shut it off and turn back on car will start. If you have the right ignition.

Thats a passlock system not a vats as the gm tech stated.

You may have left off a ground wire, get an OBD-ll scanner and see what turn up, the scanner can also turn off the light on some cars. Other wise you may need to go to the dealership or a lock smith to solve this one. Good Luck and God Bless

You'll have to have your ignition key reprogramed to match the switch. Take the key to the dealer along with your title and drivers license to show proof of ownership and they will reprogram it.
