I am a 38 year old female and the past month all of a sudden all I can think of is having sex. My body seems to be ready to explode. I am in a bad marriage and considering divorce (no do not try to talk out of, just trying to figure out how), so sex with my husband is not an option (especially since the thought of him makes me cringe). I have always been a "good girl", but right now.... well... Is this hormones or what?

It started for me when I hit 30. I'm 40 now and still going strong! I think it's a combination of hormones, losing the insecurities of your 20's and knowing exactly what you want and not being afraid to get it! It's the female mid life crisis. We all reach a point where we refuse to put up with things that don't make us happy anymore. It's probably playing a big part in why you are considering divorce. You are ready to be who you are, not what the world expects you to be. While it's sad that your marriage might not endure these changes it happens. Be careful, I've seen lots of women divorce at this age and turn into bar fly whores. Take all of this new energy and focus not only on a wonderful sex life but also your passion for other things! Enjoy it! :)

Not uncommon at all. Us women tend to go through this in our 30's and 40's as our hormones begin to change in preparation for menopause. I started feeling SO much sexier and a lot more adventurous sexually. Too bad my X couldn't handle it. He told me I was weird, I told him freaky maybe but not weird. I realized at that very moment that he was truly an idiot and was going to miss the best sex he'll ever have. The kind of sex that men dream about. I stopped having sex with him and left him a year later. Of course there were many other major reasons too. But it was a pivotal point in our relationship and he couldn't handle it or support it, therefore didn't deserve me. Safely enjoy and exlore your new found you....it can be a lot of fun....TRUST ME!!!!

I am forty, and around the same time, I noticed similar changes. Today, I am in a great relationship with a man much younger, and we have sex about 4 times per week!

Remain true to your own standards, don't go out and pick up one nighters or lower yourself to violating your own belief system. Just when you think you can't stand it, relief will come in the most unexpected form! If someone had told me at 35 that I would be with a man in his 20's today-I would have laughed myself dead. Who knew? One happy Cougar!

PS- I wouldn't have found him if I were out sleeping around-now I am satisifed physically and emotionally-don't trade one - you can have it all!

My wife is 37, and probably if she never had sex again in her life she'd be happy. As a man who could have sex several times a day - trust me there are men out there who would love to help you release the "bad girl" over and over again.

the older we get, the hornier we are. thats a fact. u can research about it. Your hormones are almost in the same level as that of a 22yr old guy.
why do you think Demi Moore is with Ashton Kutcher...Cameron D with Timberlake?!?! (and so on)

By the way, that is SOOO not premenopause. too early for that.

you might be pre-menepause, and with that comes a surge in testosterone, which can make you want to bang! Get out of the bad marriage if you feel thats what you need to do, and explore your new sexual feelings. * Safely of course, lol

Oh GOD, I seriously hope so, because we're both in our mid 30's and it's not uncommon for her to go MANY MANY weeks before she finally thinks she has enough time or energy to expend on me sexually.
