I was bothered by Bush's 7 minutes on 9/11. He looked confused and very unpresidential. The man, whether you love him or hate him, did not respond well to the announcement. I wouldn't picture Roosevelt, Kennedy, or Reagan sitting there looking dumbfounded. We had a masive attack on our nation and the person that seemed to be in charge of the recovery of the city AND the nation was the Mayor of New York City, not the President (who was flying around lost in Air Force One). I have a big problem with that.
Now all of that being said....I don't think Hillary is very presidential either. She seems to me to be a phony and very dishonest. If I had to guess about how she would react...I would imagine that she would call her spin doctors and ask how she could use it for political gain.
EDIT - PJB: How's that for rationale. Am I a lowlife because I expected more from my president while our nation was under attack then him staring off into space?
PGB: I have a problem with the way the President handled 9/11 and how he acted when he heard about. If he showed ANY emotion I would accept that. But to stare off into space with a blank look didn't sit right with me. It looked like he didn't understand the situation and hoped that his aides would handle it. I had a problem with that. And he did not run the country during the events of 9/11. He sat in hiding on Air Force One for hours. I know he has to be protected, but I think that added to the fears of the nation. The only politician I saw actually leading was Rudi. As for the children in the room, no one would be shocked if the President of the United States excuses himself from the room so that he can answers. He just sat there for 7 minutes. That is a life time in an emergency like 9/11. He could have gotten up and went into the hall to get updated! He just sat there dumb founded. Not Presidential! Damn it, when I heard from a friend that the attacks happened it took me no time to get to a TV to see what was happening. And don't be an *** to say that because I didn't appreciate the reaction of my President that I wasn't affected by 9/11. I knew people in the World Trade Center that day it effected me greatly.
29 Characters - I appreciate what you are saying. But what I had hoped to see from my President is that he actually ask a few questions when someone whispers in his ear that two passenger planes crashed into the largest building in the largest city of our country. He sat there and stared blankly for 7 minutes. He didn't excuse himself into the hall, he didn't look at the person whispering to him and say anything.
As for Air Force One...I get that that was the safe place. But couldn't he have addressed the nation from up there. Try to calm the country at all? We didn't hear from him for hours after the attacks occured. It had a very "Oh, ****...I have to hide" feel to it that never sat well with me.

Some peoples children..
Was it really 12 hours? OH MY GOSH!! Think of all those illegals that got licenses in that time! Far worse than the 7 minutes (which is almost half of the 15 minutes Bush had, to order the launching of fighter jets should we be attacked) he still had 8 minutes in which to do so. Possibly stopping the hit on the pentagon. Did he?? Or did his confusion continue on Air Force one?? I can't recall. He acted more like Elmer Fudd..than a rough and tough cowboy.
At least Hillary put some thought into her question.
Much better than the no thought at all reaction from Bush in an emergency.

Apparently a lot of you have this Hollywood image of the Secret Service. How were they to know what was outside the school waiting for Bush. The had to take time to determine what was to be expected during a run to Air Force One. It takes time, and there was no reason to rush out of the school, which was the most secure area the president could reach; staying was important. You also had to be careful not to panic the kids.
Flying around in Air Force One was done out of practicality. The nation was attacked, the safest place to be is in the air. The US air force is pilot for pilot the 2nd best on earth, so flying the president around until more Intel comes in is the safe thing to do.
Face it, President Harrison Ford is pure fiction.

Yeah, besides the brother of the Titanic was once now not dependable of safety; Marvin Bush was once. Companies did not holiday their rent and transfer out, telling bro Marvin there was once an iceberg forward. Vladimir Putin did not warn the Captain. What ever occurred to the ever vigilant Marvin Bush. And here is my query, in the event you have been a 6' five" terrorist with a flowing white turban, an Army surplus fatigue jacket, and an AK-forty seven, had 20+ better halves and predictably 50+ youngsters. wherein could you cover. What's the grocery invoice for 70 humans. And eventually, in the event you despatched Mr. Magoo to discover him, how lengthy could you assume it to take. 10 mins possibly.

She was asked to defend a position that wasn't hers in the first place. Its Gov. Spitzers idea, and its not a law, its just in the discussion stage. Its not even up to Hillary to do anything about this discussion, states set their own requirements for driving, its not a Federal statue.
She answered it, by saying that she didn't like it but understood it was the best answer for an unsatisfactory problem. Her answer wasn't a model of clarity, but then it was a very irrelevant question.
"Mr. President, the country is under attack" is not a question.
It was a statement that called for action to be taken, for him to calmly excuse himself and get more information, to make decisions, to see if his leadership was needed, to reassure the country.
See the difference, or can't you because you are a BOY?

Sitting and reading my Pet Goat during a attack on USA soil, is in a class by it's self, and comparing it to Hillary inability to answer a question because she did not want to offense her base, just shows how Bush supporters grasp for straws when looking for ways to vindicate Bush. I do not plan to vote for Hillary because she rolled over and choose to support Bush in his war of choice, but she would not have sat and read a book while our country was under attack

I'm not getting the comparison. We haven't been attacked on Hillary's watch. She isn't President. And your "cause she's a girl" is ridiculous.
Bush did sit there looking blank and unresponsive. This is a fact.

As far as I recall, when Hillary was asked that question, America had not just undergone the biggest attack on it's soil since Pearl Harbor.

So, you think comparing a frozen President while America is under attack and hillary taking her time answering a question about illegals makes sense.
Wingnuts have strange priorities.

Yes, Bush took 7 minutes while waiting for the secret service to find out exactly what happened and to coordinate Bush getting on Air Force One. Also were the children whom he didn't want to alarm by jumping up and getting all excited.
Compare Bush with future opponent John Kerry who was 'frozen' for 40 minutes when the second plane hit the Pentagon. John McCain had to help Kerry out of the Senate Chamber.
