I live in Buffalo Grove, IL. I will go to the Chicago O'Hare airport at around 4:00am 12/4/2007 and returning at around 4:00pm 12/11/2007. The average taxi ride cost (toll and tip) around $40 one way. Is there a real cheap way to get there?
I considered drive there too but the parking is going to cost me probably more. Thanks a bundle.

Remote parking at the airport (lot F) is $9/day, which means $72 for the whole trip. That's 10% cheaper than the round trip cab cost, but if you factor in $3.10 gallon (and trending up) gas, it's going to end up about the same. If there are shared ride options available, they may be slightly cheaper. Try airport express.

Unfortunately you didn't mention what time your flight is....if it were say at 7am or 8am, you could catch the Metra North Central Train which goes from Buffalo Grove to the O'Hare remote lots. The first train out of BG is at 5:57am and gets to O'Hare at 6:15am.

Coming back, you can catch this train in the afternoon (4:59, 5:29, and 5:31pm) to get back to Buffalo Grove.

(http://www.metrarail.com then click the option for North Central Train Route)

If you are leaving at 6 or 7 in the morning, you might want to consider using the Airport Express Shuttles as they will come and pick you up at your house. This will probably cost you $20-$30 one way.(http://www.airportexpress.com/shuttles/ohare.html)

Good luck!

You can take Metra downtown and switch to the Blue line to take you to O'Hare. Not an option on 12/4 as Metra stops running around midnight. Unless you don't mind getting to the airport really early.

Same thing on the 11th, take the blue line downtown and switch to Metra to get to Buffalo Grove.

The CTA's Blue Line Train...It runs out of O'Hare to downtown Chicago...Its convenient because its only $2 one way and it runs every six minutes.
