This is a common problem for top loading machines that have gotten a lot of use (14 years or so)
There is something wrong with the clutch , pump, timer or all of these things. Repairs for this problem usually cost at least $150.00 or more
If I were you, I would get it repaired, because these new fangled center post agitatorless top loaders and front loading washers are proving to be just as much of a headache as they are a solution to the chore of laundry.

This happened to me!! The little catch on the lid of the machine that locks when it spins, was broken. So it was sensing that the lid was still open. I fixed the switch (for like 10 bucks) and ta-duh, it works.

sounds like you may have a blocked hose check that first then try resetting the machine if its not that either- strike 3 call your repair man

blocked outlet or the pump is broken.
depends of what the problem is- can be a 5 minute job or a real major repair.

Belt! Pump? Inlet to pump could have an obstruction(sock,knee-high,etc.) First thing is to check the belt! ;-)=
