I am a little unsure if it can't be before or after the 1930s, so here are some ideas for both time periods:
before 1930:
battle of the 300- Spartan ideas and society vs other greek states vs persia
crusades - christian vs islam
Boston Tea Party or American Revolution- English & Colonist perspective
Native American wars- Native Americans vs US
Mormon Pioneers- mormons vs those who drove them from il & MO
Prohibition- Prohibitionist vs non-prohibitionist
woman's right to vote- men vs women

after 1930:
islamic terrorism- islamic radicals vs US
IRA- IRA vs English
Environmentalist vs Oil companies
Oil companies/auto manufacturers vs alternative fuels
liberal vs conservative ideas
Israel vs Palestine
Microsoft vs Apple early days
Union vs big corporation

I hope this helps

1827- battle of Navarino. The Turkish Empire gets beaten and Greece proclaims independence. This is BTW the first known instance of a international peace mission- since the allied fleet was originally sent there to try and stop the violence
Of course the theme has similarities with the recent events in Yugoslavia and Iraq and Afghanistan- what was seen by the Greeks as liberation was also perceived by the Turks as unwarranted foreign agression
