How is the Ride Havoc as an all mountain board? It sounds good and I've heard Ride is a good brand...

I really love Ride snowboards. My first board was a Ride Control (which I still use) and I now use a Ride Decade. They are the ideal all mountain boards - especially the Decade because it has just the right amount of flex and pop with less setback than the Control. I've also had a K2 and a Burton and I prefer the Ride boards.

I looked at the Havoc and I thought it was a little too stiff for all mountain use, and I am now glad that I got the Decade. Maybe if you are an expert rider (I am intermediate) or you are getting a short board you would want the extra stiffness of the Havoc, but I find that the Decade is the perfect balance - stiff enough to handle hard pack and carving, flexible enough to have nice pop and keep the whole edge working.

Good Luck

Ride makes pretty good gear.

The Havoc should do well as an all mountain board. That is what it was made for.

I haven't rode it, so I don't know how stiff it rides, but it really depends on your ability and preferences. Generally, beginners will want softer and more forgiving boards, because they are easier to control. More advanced riders will want stiffer boards, as they are more stable at high speeds and landing off big jumps.

Check out the Gnu Riders Choice. That is a good board. So is the Burton Custom. See if you can get either of them on sale from last year.

I tend to think of Ride as a company that sells pretty solid and well made boards. They are owned by K2 which is worth knowing if that kind of stuff is important. I've owned a Ride Timeless and have ridden a DH and I found both boards to be amazing.
