I recently switched from the patch to YAZ. I asked my OB if I should be using a backup method and they told me no. Then I talked to a friend and she was told to use a backup method for the first month when she switched. Anyone else gone through this, if so what were you told?

I've switched pills sooooo may times lol. Anytime you switch, regardless of when you switch (mid month or afte your period) or what your switching from, you need at weeks use of backup protection e.g. condoms. Soem people say a month just to be on the safe side!

I was told to use back up for a week, but you shouldn't need it if you switched when you were going to put your new patch on.

If doctors can't agree on the need for temporary back up, I doubt you will find agreement here....I would simply suggest that if you are worried about the potential then use a back up.

Who knows? A pretty little new-born baby might be nice. You are just not "ready" to be pregnant? It's a crazy thought, but maybe God is ready for you to give birth. A new life might be your future. Thinking up a zillion ways to use sex as "recreation" might be "death".
