I am thinking about buying an Xbox 360 this year, but the games are so exspensive. I don't want to buy a PS2 because I'm afraid that the PS3 will overtake the PS2 and then I won't be able to buy the new Madden and NBA games. When do you think the PS3 will take over the PS2?

Yes the PS3 will overtake the PS2. Right now most developers are making games only for the PS3. There are a few game developers making games for the PS2, but many of the games aren't that great. Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2 and more will only be on the PS3, so if you want to play the good games, you'll have to get a PS3.

Plus, if you get the 60GB or 80GB PS3, you have a PS1, PS2, and PS3 all in one. But if you think that the games may cost to much with the 360 and PS3, then I guess you better wait. Resistance Fall of Man for the PS3 has been out for almost a year, and the price on the game hasn't dropped yet.

Buying a 360 or PS3 will cost money and buying games for the consoles will cost more money, but I really recommend the PS3. The Xbox 360 is too defective(Red Ring of Death) and only have about 4 games for the whole console that are worth playing.

ps2 man. sure the ps2 might soon get taken over by the ps3, but don't worry about it. the madden games are like repeated over and over again. that's just an opinion, but the only thing that might be new for those games may be different strategies and people. ps2 has many great games and has a few madden and nfl games. don't worry.

I would say buy the ps2 because if you think about it

cons of a ps3
overheats
you need a hd tv for it to have hi res
games cost way more because it is on blue ray
costs alot
controllers needs to charge

pros of a ps2
it has many classic games
basically the same as ps3 except for some games and it is way smaller
really really good in the long run

HOWEVER:
buy the wii it cost little and the games are uber awesome iknow from experience

well if you get a ps2 you will get at least ayear out of cause if they follow nintendo and xbox there still bringing new games for the gamecube and xbox...but you should go ahead and go for the 360 an there is nothing wrong with tradeing and seling games at gamestop or eb games!

Alright ragondur, get your facts straight. ps3 does not overheat, the 360 does. Some guys were testing the ps3 and had it on for like 100 hours straight, and it still played perfectly ( http://www.gamesdog.co.uk/news/news.phtml/7003/8027/ps3-stress-test-heat-cold.phtml ) , It was hot but it didn't overheat. And who cares if the controller needs to recharge, just leave the cable in.

if you want a truly good gaming experience I would get a PC. you beteer graphics and a beteer selection of all gaming genres, plus your system wont be completely obsolete a couple of years afterword, so you only have to drop 50 bucks or so to get more ram, instead of 500 for a completely new system!!!
