Dont get me wrong, I fully understand the whole two term limit thing and that he can no longer run for President. But could something happen to allow him to stay in office? To delay or cancel the elections?
I hate to think of all the hard work he has done going down the drain. I dont see anyone who is running on either side who can fill our Presidents shoes.
God Bless America!

Well there's Martial Law (Emergency State)
and Executive Order 51 from May 2007
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html

Wired News asked blunt. The Office of Legal Counsel
responded in nine days: It has no documents fitting
that description. This is the office specifically tasked
with advising the president on legal matters, and which
infamously belched out a memo sanctioning torture in 2002.

This was, by the way, the fastest FOIA response they've
ever gotten -- the speed suggesting the proposition was
so ludicrous that it demanded swift repudiation. (¤ pdf ¤)

Despite the president's occasional contempt for the law,
"THREAT LEVEL" does NOT believe that he is going to
declare a state of emergency and cancel the '08 election.

No. Presidents are term limited. It would take a Constitutional Amendment and that will not happen. I feel that Bush is probably tired of having to deal with all the problems this nation has. He will be glad to turn it over to someone else. I don't think his hard work has gone down the drain. He has done more good things than many give him credit for, and his shoes will be hard to fill. The main thing I like about him is that he does what he believes is right regardless of what the polls, the Democrats, or the media think. I believe that the Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for criticizing him when they did not have to make the tough decisions. The criticism had hindered positive things in Iraq and the war on terror.

Wow for all the no's there is definately a way. If he was to be vice president and the president dies he can serve again. If he were to be in the cabinet and all of the people above him die then he would be president. There are so many ways for him to be president again but they are very unlikely to happen. He can serve for another 2 years if the president steps down and elects for him to become the president.

Sure, he could go the way of Musharraf, suspend the constitution, dismantle congress and take over.

Fyi, nearly 75% of Americans think he is doing a poor job -- a first for a war-time president in a made up war.

I suppose you have some stock in companies that benefit from the indulgence of the Bush-Cheney administration...

Not at this time. The constitution was changed in 1948 to allow no more than 8 years for a citizen to be elected president. It would take another change to allow him to remain President. Considerng the time he has left in office, this would almost be impossible to enact.

Laura Bush could run, and everyone knows George would be the defacto leader. That would be deceitful and wrong, though.

Which is why Mrs. Clinton has such high negatives. Most people see through the rouse.

No, thank God.

But he could be the Vice President, or another elected office if he chooses to run. But what would be the point of that.

Technically yes, it would take a change to the constitution which would have to be backed by both the Senate and the Congress...sooooo no, no way in hell.

It's called Martial Law, and then he can claim temporary (supposedly) dictatorial powers, pretty scary if that happens.
