yep... people can die from broken hearts... just like animals depression is what a broken heart really is, and it is a very serious medical illness... if it gets to tramatic you should consult a doctor, and get medication.

No you can't actually die from a broken heart, but from the broken heart can lead to depression... not eating making yourself weak and more susceptible to catching colds and viruses. I think some elderly people that have spouses that die.. soon die shortly after because they allow themselves to enter this weakened state through depression.

If you mean literally die, yes indeed they can.
this is how if the body sustains enough stress it can cause the heart to have a stroke, so yes if someone gets stressed out enough over a broken heart yes their heart could really break. in a certain point of view.

I've heard of people losing the will to live and just dying off. I think it's pretty rare, but I believe it has happened. Pick up "Mannon Des Sources" (French movie). A guy croaks from a broken heart in that too.

I have heard of old people that have been together for many and many of years dying soon after their spouse died. BUT, I have had my heart broken really bad b4 and even though I felt like I was going to die, I am still here :)

In a way, yes, someone can die from a broken heart. Especially if they can't cope up with the pain. It slowly eats them and makes them numb and therefore causes them to cease their lives.

possibly.. stress can do some messed up things to your body. buuuut... it's not likely to die.
however, doves can die from a broken heart. say two love birds were together their whole lives, and one died, the other can become so deeply depressed and broken hearted that it can die due to it's loss.

My grandfather did. But he was married for 55 years.
I know dogs can die of sadness when their owners die.
I don't think you will die of a broken heart if you dated for a week though lol.

I think a little piece of you dies when you're heart gets broken. I like knowing that there will come a time when that part will resurrect itself for someone else

I've heard of it. A couple are married for a really long time. He dies then the wife dies a week later. Certainly we can say "Well they died of natural causes", but was it really? In cases like that I agree with you, the wife died of a broken heart and she wanted to go on to heaven to be with her husband.
