First off whats the average age that a woman starts? I have hot flashes from time to time and i guess night sweats. I still have a period which I hate and there is no need for since I've had my tubes tied for last 17yrs. When does the period stop? I don't think its fair for me to have a period and hotflashes lol. Im 38 btw.

you are experiencing what is call peri-menopausal symptoms.
If you prefer holistic remedies, look into DHEA, or black cohosh. Either one will ease the symptoms considerably.

Menopause I believe normally starts from the average age of late 30's to early 50's normally. It is hard to typically say, however i can say from a males understanidng it also can depending on genetics as well, depending on when your mother started the change of life as well.
