A heartbeat is detectable by 42 days gestational age (six weeks from your last normal menstrual period = LAMP or LMP)
so that means you would be 4 weeks from conception - 1 month.
Ie. you conceived October 9 - then by November 9 there is a DETECTABLE heartbeat!

A babys heart usually starts beating around 4 weeks but its not visible on an ultrasound till 6 or 7 weeks. When i was 6 weeks i went for a scan an they couldnt see a heartbeat with the tummy ultrasound or the vaginal one so i had 2 go back a fortnight later an it was visible then. x

The earliest is around 6 weeks BUT sometimes the baby is in an awkward position, for example, and the heartbeat is not heard until around 10 weeks.
I couldn't hear my heartbeat but they did a scan where they can tell by the blood flow whether the baby is alive. Never trust a Dr saying you've had a miscarriage solely on them saying they can't hear the heartbeat.

The baby's heart starts beating at 5 1/2 to 6 weeks, and you can usually hear it with a doppler at around 10 weeks.

By the time you find out that you are pregnant the fetus will have a strong working heartbeat. I think it starts beating about two weeks after the egg is fertilized. The heartbeat is one of the first things to develop, even before arms and legs, brains and internal organs.

Week Five - First heartbeats begin - If you have an early ultrasound you may not be able to recognize this tiny being as a baby, but there is no mistaking what it feels like seeing your child's heartbeat on that screen. That rhythmic beat is echoed in your own heart.

The baby's heart starts beating around 19 days after conception! So you probably won't even know you are pregnant when the heart starts beating...since most people don't find out till at least 4-5 wks! Hope I helped...
