The email is from a "Yahoo Lottery Promo" and states it is from the UK. As I have "won" dozens of "Lotteries" from Ireland to the US, I would assume that this is also a scam. Will Yahoo intervene and put a stop to it? This scam is using the Yahoo name...

You can choose to ignore it or report it to Yahoo. Here's a link for their Abuse team.

The email is not actually coming from Yahoo. Someone is "spoofing" the email so that it looks like it's coming from Yahoo. This can be done for any email, and is often done with financial institutions. There's nothing Yahoo can do about it. That's like asking Yahoo to stop all criminals from committing crimes. Not gonna happen. Just realize that unless you have a lottery ticket in hand, that you purchased, you will not win the lottery.

No wonder you get spam Julie Bacon *insert REAL PHONE NUMBER here*, you give out way too much info on the internet. Since you are so trusting perhaps you could fill in what few blanks you have left for us, maybe your Mom's maiden name, your bra cup size, your cat's birthday. Wise up, the internet is WORLDWIDE and everyone can see your info!! There are jerks who use that to prey on you. Don't let them! Also, don't post questions like this to a public board, contact yahoo through more secure means, say the link within your email box somewhere near the "contact us" link.

If you send a copy of the message to Yahoo, they might do something. When I get lottery messages, I click the Spam button.

Just mark it as spam. Yahoo takes especial notice to spam with the @yahoo on the address.

Please don't have your phone number as your ID. Anyone can find out who you are and where you live. It's really easy to do.

I get them all the time.* It is a scam unless it comes directly from Yahoo, then contact Yahoo to verify it 100%.*
