where the description for the gloves says:"Leather hybrid with a leather palm and a Permax insert", can anybody explain to me what the "Permax insert" is?

Permax is a trademarked name for a type of fabric. See here: http://www.lubrizolcoatings.com/TradeName.aspx?site=Coatings&searchValue=47

So the glove you have listed simply has an inner glover that is made out of Permax - probably like having a pipe glove inside the outer shell.
