Yes. I love a well written book, and the subject matter is less important than how well it is written. I love a good romance, and I love science fiction! In non-fiction, I like to learn about topics which interest me, such as Asperger's syndrome, Witchcraft, feminism, the history of pre-Judeo Christian societies, the Goddess, matrilineal societies, gardening, herb lore, astronomy, space travel, home decorating, and the history and development of languages.

what a great question!

Fiction, murder mysteries, science fiction, and historical accounts, Americana, Texana. All of which can make me laugh. If you think history isn't funny, google Sam Houston and find some of the things he said.

In reference to a challenge to a duel, Houston requested that his secretary "Tell the angry gentleman that he shall have to wait his turn." And when baptised, the preacher declared that Houston's sins were "Washed white as snow," to which Houston replied, "God help the fish."

And in another moving moment, you have the articles referring to Rip Ford marching on the Texas Capitol to end Reconstructionist Governer E.J. Davis's refusal to vacate the capitol after he lost the election. Ford, and the former Texas Rangers marching behind him, sang "The Battle Hymn Republic" as they marched.

George Washington seems to have been one of the largest producers of rye whiskey at the time, and a certain American general in Europes reply to a demand from the Third Reich troops that had him surrounded was simply "Nuts." (He won the ensuing battle, incidentally.)

For interesting fact, good writers put history together in a comprehensible way that highlights the participants, my obvious hero, Sam Houston, for example. As for murder mysteries, Martha Grimes and Agatha Christie probably wouldn't know forensic sciences if it bit them on the rear end, but the former is and the latter was, a great writer. For pure science fiction, you don't get much better than Spider Robinson or the late Douglass Adams; You'd better like puns if you read Spider Robinson, or British wordplay if you read Douglass Adams.

I do love to read, quite a bit actually. Most my favorite novels are from either the Victorian period in England or the Modern American genre, although I do love a lot of contemporary sci fi and horror. As far as non-fiction goes, I'm a sucker for history, particularly ancient culture or American presidential history. Right now I'm reading a multi-volume biography of Picasso, and it's really fascinating.

I read when the house is quiet, that wouldl require my daughter to take a breathe between sentences, which rarely happens. I like to read discover magazine and learn all the new things happening in the world, new species of anything discovered. I also like to read books that tell of families with problems or secrets that come to the surface and how it affects family members differently and then how it ends up being resolved. Another favorite is anything by Depok Chopra.

As far as genres I have a lot of personal favorites to include:
Horror, Action/ Adventure, Suspence, and Thriller. However; I guess I like thriller/ suspence like Thomas Harris's series on Hannibal the best.

I find reading still a bit hard to do.. I have too many things going on in my head ..When I read I still read word for word and find it hard to concentrate on what I am reading...The only things I enjoy reading are things that I want to learn about and aren't much longer than a few pages. I don't read for fun ,,I read to learn something, like directions or how to guides are about all I read

I love the classics, but right now I am into non-fiction/bios and just read "Glass Castle's." Fascinating story about how a woman pulled herself out of family madness and poverty.
