People make me sick with thinking that no one has the right to say things that they don't want to hear. Then they are "outraged" and "offended." It is very prevalent on this forum and all the reporting that is done. People are WAY too click-happy with the red flag.
"I don't like that. Reported." "You can't say that! You're reported." "HOW DARE YOU!!! REPORTED!"
Do these people even hear themselves? I can say whatever I want to. Even if some find it "offensive." Especially when it is a fact that makes others "uncomfortable." I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this question is reported.

Grant.... I'm a Conservative so it happens to me on a daily basis on here. I just don't whine and cry about it and report everyone left and right. Almost every person who disagreed with this question said something nasty to me in their response. I'm mature enough to not let it bother me. They have the right to be jerks.

I understand what you are saying. Somehow, everything that people used to handle themselves, such as offensive remarks, they now want some sort of legal recourse for. True, there is Freedom of Speech but no Freedom from Offense. Not so many years ago it was not this way. If I said something that needed to be said but may offend someone I would simply preclude that statement with the phrase, " No offense...", to which others would answer, "none taken". It was a common and thoughtful way to discuss something that may offend someone without offending them.
The problem is, people seem to WANT to be offended. If you want to discuss certain issues that they may be affected by they simply will be offended no matter if that was not the intention. Intention was what used to be important.
If someone wished to point out something about a particular race of people but did not intend to do so in an offensive way that was important. Now you may not even approach certain subjects without being ridiculed or called names.
It all seems to be part of some vast conspiracy to create more and more victimized and aggrieved sub-groups in America instead of promoting free and open communication which would lead to greater understanding.

Very good question!
Fact is we do have that right to not be offended, but it how we handle being offended that makes the difference.
Liberals would say that you have a right to sue or have a law passed to prevent that offense from happening again. That to me is childish and stupid.
To a conservative, you have the right to tell the offending person or thing that they are offensive and ask that they be respectful and not do it again. If they do, we point it out again and then simply avoid the offending person or thing. I think that is called personal responsibility.
Finally, it has become a crime. Look at what has happened to all those who have spoken the truth about any liberal democrat presidential candidate.

It's not a crime to make someone feel uncomfortable. But in our country, people can sue you for just about anything...so it seems. Basically, everyone just wants freedom and peace. You can have freedom of speech but if you use that as a weapon against another person, that could potentially make them feel less peaceful. It is considered an attack against them, and if they are unfortunate enough to be less mentally stable than the average person, it could be emotionally harmful to them. In my opinion, the world would be a much more peaceful place if EVERYONE just minded their own business.

That's one of the big problems with today's society. We are so worried about hurting others feelings. But yet we have embraced the "lets find everything else to blame it on except the person who really needs the blame'. I'm so sick of hearing "it's not his fault it's this or that" sometimes it takes hurting someones feeling to really get the point across and fix the problem. Lets face it if you steal, it's not your environment, it's the fact that your a lazy piece of garbage who didn't want to take the time and earn the money to buy it.

If only making someone uncomfortable WERE a crime? Then Hillary would be convicted and sentenced to about 500 years.

Great question! I'm so sick of people who get offended at every little thing. It's not like nothing ever offends me, but whatever it is, I can assure you I'm not going to dwell on it very long. I have plenty of other things that need attention.

Anyone who uses the phrase "how dare you?" more than once a year needs therapy. Stop taking yourself so seriously, you aren't the center of the universe. I am only uncomfortable when it directly affects my safety or the safety of my family. Otherwise it's just somebody else's s**t.

I think many of you missed the point of this question. Sometimes the truth is offensive and should not be surpressed simply to appease those that might be offended.

Since the beginning of time and its not a crime per sey.... Its just rude and down right despeckable.... Why would anyone want to make someon4e feel uncomfortable... Are you telling me that its ok for someone to deo that to you? Now if someone deserves to be made uncomfortable i.e. a child molester or a wife beater then so be it.... but just to make someone feel unconfortable because you dont like them is not right and you know it.... Grow up....
