I embrace what the founding fathers envisioned. I've WORKED long and hard. Served my country proudly. I've never stepped on or opressed anyone, I have encouraged instead.I've surounded myself with lifes rewards. A home vintage hot rods, land, etc etc...I pay my taxes,my bills and other obligations. The free market system (capitalisn ) has rewarded me. Now socialists say I'm evil, I have to much, it's not fair, big business is no good. I ask you why is living the American dream wrong?

what I see is as someone salary increases so does there lifestyle? People have always wanted more than they can have.education is the key. It (financial responsibility) need to be taught early on. Parents want to give there kids the world, wonderful, but they end up catering to every whim. Then thrust into the world, they fail. Why? economic ignorance. they blame capitalism, not the parents who should have not indulged every want. But, every need instead. So I guess it's econnomic ignorance who is trying to make me feel wrong and evil

I know I don't give good answers to topics but it angers me when I see questions that imply capitalism is wrongful, or that we should embrace socialism/ Communism as our saviour

What you are living is the American Dream. The drive for success is what made this country great. Don't feel bad. Don't listen to the libs/socialists. They are determined to destroy this country. Keep doing what you do and don't worry about it. By the way, i just finished restoring a 34' Ford 3 window coupe complete with a 427.

Welcome to the real world, pal. Do you think you're the only person who has worked long and hard hours? So have I...there's a couple of big differences between the two of us. I don't expect to take my land, my cars or my money with me when I die and I don't measure my worth as a human being by the material things that I own. And I don't sit around whining about people who are trying to make me feel "evil and wrong." I was raised to give back to society...that what I have could be lost in a day and at the end of that day, what would I have left? In my case, I know I have the love of other human beings that goes beyond what I have materially.

There is no one on this planet who has the power to make me feel evil or wrong.

If a ball is thrown and nobody catches it, it doesn't matter. If you feel evil and wrong, you are catching the ball, and now it becomes important.
People trying to be elected will try anything in the hope of getting votes. They will throw out an idea, and hope that someone will catch it. If enough of us respond, they will get elected.
If you are proud of your accomplishments, you will share them, and give hope to others, if not, you will spend your life apologizing.
There will always be those among us who will be spending their lives feeling sorry for themselves. There are politicians who have made careers catering to this miasma. If they are the only ones voting, then this country has no chance.
If, however, there is some hope of real success for the average person, as is evidenced by your success, which you are proud of, then people will have some reason to be optimistic for themselves.
More people who are successful need to tell their stories, and quit second guessing themselves.

Have you looked around at what our young people face when they graduate college with their degree? The world is not the same place it was when you were working those long hours to get ahead.
Most students have school loans and if they were sucked in by credit card offers which they are flooded with when they gaduate high school, they probably have some credit card debt, too.
They get married and try to live that elusive "American Dream" so they buy a house with a subprime loan because they can't afford anything else and they settle down to start a family.
2 babies are born, Mom decides to stay at home. Then one of the babies get sick and the Health insurance company cancels Dad's policy because it's costing the company too much. The baby ends up getting mediocre care at the county hospital, but the bills are astronomical.
Then the subprime loan comes up to change interest rates, jacking up their payment from just barely able to make it to way beyond their means. They have to declare bankruptcy. They lose the house and go back to living with her parents.

The rampant capitalism has lead to predatory practices in banking and credit companies, and most especially, health insurance. We need some reforms to stop these companies from preying on the typical consumer.

No one is advocating Socialism, no matter what you have heard from Rush, O'Reilly and the like. We just want to stop big companies from preying on the ones who actually supply their workers and customers.

First of all, no one can make you feel evil and wrong. If you have done what you say you have done really, then you are not evil nor are you wrong. But you may be in the minority. Or it's a case of the few rotten vegetables spoiling the pot.
You must realize that other people have done what you have done and have not been rewarded. I am one example. I've worked since I was 15. I went to college. I've been working full-time ever since and am now working on an MBA. I've done well in the jobs I've held. But there is no more job security. I try to get ahead only to find myself pushed back because the cost of living is outpacing any salary increases I receive. I think I have a very good balance of the needs and the wants. Actually, my husband thinks that I do not do enough for the wants. But hey, I've managed to stay out of debt for the most part. It's not easy though. I'm getting into debt with school. Work would pay a portion of it but at too high of a price. I know they don't actually want to do it. It's just offered so they can say it's offered. It's total BS.
I wish I could start a business but I can't afford to. I'm working towards that goal but like I've said, I keep falling behind no matter what I try to do. I know that no one gets ahead in life on their own. But with work, school, and family it's hard to network. I also volunteer and donate some money to charity.
What's most important to me is to be able to donate more money and time to charities. I want to leave the world a better place than what was given to me. There is real honor in that. I believe that is the secret to happiness.
That's wonderful it's worked for you but you have to realize that you may be lucky. Others have not been so lucky. Look at the total picture. People born poor have a much harder time to get out of it. People in the middle class who do the hard work and get very little reward are struggling.
There are trade offs in life. I want to live in a civilized world where people are taken care of (able to take care of themselves, that's why welfare was created, there aren't enough jobs. That's a fact. I saw in a magazine that there are 29 people for every administrative job and as the salary goes up, so does the competition.) I have seen that. I beat out 9 other people for my current position. In other jobs, I beat out about the same. There are less jobs now because of a lot of decent jobs went overseas. The job situation is changing quickly, more quickly then people are able to adapt or can afford to adapt. I tried to get into pharmacy school. I worked very hard but didn't get in because of the competition. I did get into nursing school but I can't afford tuition. I wouldn't be able to work because it's a demanding program. Tuition is $30,000 a year. That's only tuition. The other programs in the area that are more affordable are booked. There are too many students and not enough openings. It's a real problem.
That's great your life is great but you need to start looking outside yourself.

No one can make you feel evil or wrong. This is the kind of mental control over people Socialists want, and you must fight against it, like any other freedom loving American must, and does. You're doing it now, and I myself am saying thank you, to you for using your right to speak, and make yourself known, including the values of America, and what WE THE PEOPLE stand for.
Socialists cannot shut you up, no matter how hard they will, and do try, and nor will they quiet me. I'd rather die, than live under control of State.
I find those who claim to be Liberal, refuse to accept that they are not, and are indeed Socialists.

Below is a question I asked a week ago, and a Liberal reported it to try and shut up the truth, about who they really are. I saved the question, so I could speak it again. They will never take away my right to be a proud American who knows Capitalism works, and Socialism doesn't.

How can a Liberal say they are not Socialists? Have they ever read a dictionary? And why don't Liberals follow their so-called philosophy?

Notice definition 3) in the 1st (which is what Liberals want...Health-Care, Welfare...)

Notice defintion 2, all of it (which is not what you are, "Liberals". You're in a war on Christianity, no prayer, no Christian clubs in schools, no 10 commandments in public buildings, or courts)

Notice definition 3 all of it ( Remember Condoleeza Rice, Senator John McCain, David Horowitz, and Jim Gilchrist, the President of the Minutemen? Where was their freedom of speech at our Universites? Who stopped them from speaking? It sure wasn't Conservatives!)

You are not wrong at all, and I am a socialist. Those who make you feel evil and wrong misunderstand what they say they believe. What you have done is excellent, and I applaud you for it. The problem is that many, in the pursuit of riches, (i.e. Cheney and Haliburton) have STEPPED and OPPRESSED so many that ppl start to view success with tyranny. Ignore those who criticize your success.

Did you really earn it with hard work .
What have you made or produced of value or is everything you have done in a file cabinet .
Did you sell people stuff or did you make something .
I have to say the twisted values Americans have today is whats ruining this country .
They think if you do not go to college and get a four year degree you have no value .
That low pay and long hours is all you deserve .
So I ask you what you produced or have done of value .

Don't let the lazy SOBs get to you. They are either young and idealistic or they are older and none the wiser -- they never left the high school mentality. Trouble is, most are young and naive. They expect to graduate high school and start life at the same level it took their parents at least thirty years to get to. I taught my children at an early age that the phrase "It's not fair!" is bad. I'm now raising someone else's 11 year old and have yet to break her of that awful habit/phrase. You want it? Earn it! Those that want socialism, are lazy and perverse. Their myopathy will (hopefully) change in time and become more goal oriented.
