Let's be clear: Don Shula is a cheater. Without him and the Dolphins cheating, he would never have been coach of that Dolphins team.
When the Dolphins hired him, it was under the table, pulling him away from another team without permission, in violation of league rules. The NFL decided it was tampering and awarded that team the Dolphin's first round pick. So, for him to claim his awards and accolades with the Dolphins are well deserved while those of another team who was caught cheating are not is pretty lame.
And I'm curious, how many people know exactly what the cheating the Patriots did was? Anyone ever see it represented? It involved having a camera... BEHIND the Patriots bench, filming all the way across the field. Are you going to tell me those defensive coaches are not able to hide their signals? Yes, it's a rule... and yes, they were told not to do it. No excuses, I just think it's one of those really dumb rules that do not make alot of sense anyways, but whatever... if you cry loud enough, like the Colts do, you can get the rules made any way you want them to be *grin*.
They got caught TRYING to cheat (and failing), they paid the fine, and they are destroying the league anyways. If anyone thinks they are cheating now, it's time to prove it because at this point they are probably the most watched and scrutinized team in the league.
Shula and the Dolphins got caught not just trying to cheat, but actually cheating. And they are lauded for an undefeated season. I wonder if they would have gone undefeated with out Shula to guide them there.....

I think Shula(best living coach in any sport) came off a little bit jealous here. Who is to say that the 72 Dolphins did not break any rules to gain an unfair advantage? Every team cuts corners and cheats in some ways. I am a giants fan, we have been accused of opening up the gates and let the wind rush in through giants stadium when opposing kickers are kicking. Everybody cheats. I dont think that the video impacted there performance at all. They are a great team and fun to watch. They will probably lose a game this year...every team does. Shula sounds a little bitter here, sorry he is better than that.

If you want him to keep his opinions to himself then you need to take that beef up with the reporters who ask the questions. I think he was out of bounds and should have taken a higher road but I didn't take offense to it. He was asked a question and he answered it. He didn't hold a press conference so its not that big a deal. He does give validity to the issue at hand and probably offers up an opinion shared by many coaches and players.
Arguing that this Patriots team would beat the '72 Dolphins is silly. Players are bigger, stronger and faster today so yeah, todays Patriots as well as probably 3/4 of the teams in the league today could beat that '72 Dolphins team. Its silly to make such an argument. Every Super Bowl champion from the past 20 years could likely beat the '72 Dolphins.. that's not the point.
The argument is not which team could beat the other, the argument is which team had the better season. The '72 Dolphins had the single greatest season in NFL history and that is the legacy at stake now. Should the Patriots go undefeated this seaon (19-0) you could argue they had the single greatest season in NFL history. The argument will then switch to 'is such a feat equal or greater than the '72 Dolphins' considering the dark cloud that now surrounds the Patriots. These are things the Pats and their fans don't want to acknowledge but its there and they can't hide from it.
Don't be mad at Shula for pointing out this teams indescretions. Be mad at your head coach for casting this shroud upon the team. This is the doing of your head coach. If not for his arrogance, this team would on their way to accomplishing the single greatest feat in NFL history, instead they are treading on a thin layer of credibility that is of their own doing.

The Dolphins are just a bunch of big cry babies...anytime anyone comes close they start coming out of the woodwork to dimish the current "runner" at their record..they come out and start knocking it in some way.....I truly feel this is it....why the 72 Dolphins and not....people like Aaron complaining about Bonds or for that matter any other record holder I don't know....but the 72 Dolphins do not want their record broken.....he is entitled to his opinion and it does carry weight....he is an "icon" in the NFL.....I do not really like the Patriots.....I think Belichicks' attitude brings it on himself as for example Bonds and his attitude....he gets mad at you for catching him cheating.....not only in football but on his wife as well....remember the mistress that he had set up in a 5million dollar home....they are truly a great team, just like Bonds was and is....but it will always be tarnished with the *****......think of you cheating or your wife cheating on you just one time....will the marriage ever get past it completely?...No!....this will also be the case with the Patriots and Bonds for that matter.....they are the best team out there...period! and did not have to cheat!...if we could go back in time to last year, the Colts when on their undefeated streak would have played the Dolphins on the last game of the season.....if they had gotten there undefeated with the Dolphins the only team standing in their way....Shula...Greise...Csonka...and Mercury Morris would have come out of retirement to play that day and try to prevent it.....the 72 Dolphins lack class and you can put their Coach right there on top!

As you say, if a person leaves his own religion and joins another and if that makes up the majority of the people in that religion, it is full of 'apostates.' Clearly for a church to pen such a term on those who still believe in both Christ and God is taking the role upon them that belongs to Christ - namely, judge. When we look at what Jesus, Paul, James taught (perhaps others too) it was that our deeds would be rewarded. Jesus claimed that he would he harsh on WORKERS of lawlessness. James emphasized the deeds of love and mercy toward other Christians. If then a person is leading a Christian righteous life in all holiness, avoiding adultery, idolatry, greed, etc - it is clear that this will be rewarded. We should remember one thing. That the kettle calling the pot black is no better than the pot calling the kettle black - it works both ways. If then the Wt is teaching dogma of men, as do the other churches - wherein lies anyone's superiority, how can any of these brag about having the truth? How can any of these dare label anyone who lives a Christian life an apostate? Truly the apostate is revealed in such a person leading an unchristian life. As Jesus taught, by their fruits you will know them. This was how to recognize the false prophet! Check it! Not by such a person's teachings primarily.

shulas an old bitter man who doesn't want another team to do better then his team.
I think the Pats should have an astrix next to there season if they go 16-0 cause they won more games then the undefeated fins, which means they did better.
I'm not even a Pats fan. Everyone has to get a grip, the Pats were punished for what they did and its over. Is Indy getting in trouble for pumping sound in, no, and they had the calls all game but is the media talking about that, no, cause Manning is supposedly the golden child.
GO COWBOYS!!!

Comparing a 73 team to a 2007 team isnt fair the game has become far more advanced than it was back in the 70's. I dont really take offense to what shula says, I am a pats fan but I dont care what Don Shula had to say before he was a has been and I certainly dont care now. Remember, Shula was at one time a good coach before game advances got away from him, then he spent years wasting the talent of arguably the best quarterback who ever played the game.

I thought that Shula's comments made him look like a whining spoiled sport and detracted from his accomplishments as an NFL Coach 30-40 years ago. In fairness to him, his comments were taken somewhat out of context by the press. That being said, he lost a chance to be gracious and classy but instead showed himself to be thin skinned and petty.

i surley wont be upset at someone for telling the truth and giving an honest opinion, thats the way he feels get over it hes not the only one who feels that way most real football fans do be glad he dident bring up the 3 superbowls, you patsie fans are amazing, your coach did this to you not anybody else there should be some stigma attached to this season and as far as im concerned the 3 superbowls as well its my opinion so get over it, this is the same reason you guys are all over dungy and the colts he said basically the same thing, that is what they believe as alot of people do, and then vrable has to shoot off his mouth and show the world once again that the patsie players, coaches and owner have no class as they have many times over the past few seasons instead of giving people more to hate about your whole organization and fan base you would think you would learn from this and move on stop crying about it, it is real and in alot of fans, players and coaches minds and your going to hear about it from time to time, and this argument about whtch team would beat who is totally rediculous, stop comparing yourself to hall of fame teams and players, if any of your boys get in ever then you can talk about the hall of fame right now its just sour grapes and jealousy from the patsies and their fans

The Patriots did cheat. They are cheaters. That much is indisputable. It is more cut and dried than Barry Bonds' steroid issues. All of the Patriots apologists keep getting angry when people voice an opinion about their cheating team. When they aren't making those draft picks that they lost for cheating I hope it finally sinks in for everyone.
the '72 Dolphins were undefeated. The '73 Dolphins were 12-2.
