That is a slap in the face of every patriotic American and especially our fine men and women fighting overseas for what that flag stands for.

But, as predicted, the majority of the answerer are so anti-American, that they actually laud this man for his actions....

Why don't we just cut to the chase....abolish the Flag....Constitution...and most importantly....the Bible....replace it with the Islamic flag and the Quran....that is where the apathetic lefty's are leading us ......soon there will not be a recognizable nation to pledge allegiance to!

How much more "substantiating" proof do you need than an unaltered photo showing him standing with his hands over his nether regions, instead of his heart

I even have the respect of being a third era militia and third era Veteran of Wars - and we in no way placed our renounce our coronary heart for the nationwide anthem..it rather is time-honored in basic terms to stand - if in uniform at interest. The renounce the coronary heart is for the pledge in basic terms. Problem with a photo, it doesn't tell you where, or when or anything but capture a moment in time.
He doesn't refuse to say the pledge, he refuses to wear a cheap pin made in China of the American flag. Says its an empty gesture, it is, many of the Republican candidates don't wear one either, and one that does, Rudy, is basically campaigning on his 9/11 photo ops.
As I understand it, the pledge was over and they had started singing the anthem, you don't have to keep your hand over your heart during the anthem. Enjoy the link, if you haven't already seen it.


How can so many here defend an outright lie? It never happened as told, its a lie, that means its not true, you don't have to defend his right to cover his heart, or worry about his allegiance, it never happened. Are we now in a position where we believe things that are made up simply because we like it? We want to believe hes a Muslim, and hes not, and we want to believe he won't say the pledge and that's not true, and you put your hand over your heart for the anthem and that's not true. Has the ability to discern the simple truth been obscured by vitriol for a mans party?

Why does it matter where your hand is during the Pledge of Allegiance? It's more important to respect the Bill of Rights. George Bush has no respect for the Constitution.

What ever happened to separation of church and state? If he doesn't want to say the pledge of allegiance, he has that right.

Without a few gestures of his allegiance to the United States it would be very difficult for him to be sworn in.

I believe this refusal is due to his religious upbringing and shows the real colors of a Muslim. This is exactly what a Muslim and some other religions do when the Pledge of Allegiance is being said. I for one, in this day and time, would have nothing to do with electing a Muslim to the highest office in the US.

This is the latest right-wing chain email lie.

It's been debunked already. Even conservative Joe Scarborough admitted it was a piece of trash email. First off, it was not the pledge of allegiance. It was the national anthem. He has in fact put his hand over his heart on other occasions.
