I feel that it is far deeper than the homosexuality thing. I feel these people ar unhappy with their lives, many factors of their lives. But rather than take a look at the harsh truths that come with looking at your own problems, they blame it on their homosexuality!!! The reason that the success rate is so low, is most of the time, that's not really the true problem. The true problems are usually to painful to face, so they try to pin it on one thing, which hardly ever works!!

i really have an issue with the numbers you quoted in your question. I don't believe for a second that conversion therapy has a success rate of 25 - 40%. I have not seen any documentation to that effect. Actually, because there is NO documented proof that it works AND because it causes so much damage to people trying it, it is highly discouraged by practically ALL reputable mental health associations and organizations (emphasis on reputable)

Why do so many try it?? Because a very narrow minded and homophobic society has made us believe that there is something "wrong" with being GLBor T. Even today, with the world practically loaded with intelligent, forward thinking people, this problem still exists. Its all a part of denying who you are. One of the first steps to true mental well being, is to love yourself.

Dearie,
Try a "success rate" of less than 5% to be closer to the actual statistics. And may of them just become asexual, not "straight."

Torture never helps anyone.

Have a nice day!

From what I read, it is not that many trying to switch and 25% is a high estimate for marginal success.
