It can be.

The Plan B pill usually works by stopping conception before it occurs. So MOST of the time, Plan B acts as contraceptive.

BUT its backup mechanism (if the contraceptive means don't work) is to stop a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. That means if a baby has been conceived, the hormones in Plan B can make the uterine lining so hostile that the pregnancy is terminated.

Hence a very early abortion.

Hormonal birth control, patches and shots also sometimes work in this way, too, so they can also be abortifacients.

Problem is, mothers aren't usually aware when this occurs. They might see the bleeding as a period, when it very well could be an early abortion. The safe option, obviously, is to steer clear of hormonal birth control altogether since there is an abortion risk, and choose natural methods for spacing children or postponing a pregnancy.

It is by some people. It depends on what you believe about when life begins, and what you think an "abortion" is. If you believe that life begins at conception, and that an abortion is the intentional ending of any life after conception, then it CAN cause abortion by that definition (but not necessarily). Plan B is supposed to stop conception from occuring, but its backup is to stop a fertilized egg from implanting in the womb (some forms of birth control are like this too). So, IF conception were to have already occured when someone took plan B and IF a person believes that life begins at conception, then it would be considered by that person to be a form of abortion because it would prevent implantation of the forming life, and the life would die. I hope that made sense.

Plan B is not considered abortion. I am 34 weeks pregnant with girl #4 and am completely against abortion. Plan B is only safe to take up to 72 hours after intercourse. If you are already pregnant it will do nothing, if you aren't it puts a slick residue on your ovaries to prevent the sperm from getting to your eggs. I asked my doctor!!!

It really does depend on who you ask.The pill makes it so a fertilized egg does not implant itself in the uterus so instead it just come out.Alot of people think once a sperm meets the egg then it is now a baby, some people don't think it is a baby untill it is fully formed

Is that the morning after pill??

If it is it isn't a form of abortion. It only slows down the egg being released.

Yes it is. I think that if you are responsible enought to do what causes pregnancy then you should be responsible enough to raise a kid. If you don't want to have one you shouldn't be having sex. Ididnt' have sex till i was responsible enough to know and PAY the consiquenses of it.
