I had a c-section 3 weeks ago and for the last couple days I noticed a very small amount of leakage from one spot of the incision. It was dried up on my underwear and was like a reddish/yellowish color-I called doctor office and the nurse there said that was normal as incsion site starts to heal as long as it isn;t constantly leaking or soaking thru my underwear and/or clothes. I just wanted to check with some of you that has also had a c-section. If you had this type of drainage from the incision please share you experience with me and did it turn out to be more than just "normal" like did any of you ever develope an infection and if so what were your signs/symptoms that something was wrong? Also I noticed yesterday that outside of the left side of my vagina was itching and swollen-anyone have this?

About 10 days after my C-Section I noticed a small hole that would leak and I went to my doctor and they had my husband stuff it with gauze 3 times a day until I went back 5 days later. It is normal to have a small leakage as long as it isn't uncomfortable to you. Just be careful getting in and out of things and make sure that you are not over stretching. Just because they give you 6 weeks to heal doesn't mean your body will do it in that time frame. Best of Luck
As for the swelling in the vaginal area. Contact your Doctor and let them know, could be something small that a cream can take care of but better safe than sorry.

I had a c-section 3 weeks ago, and a week later it burst open leaking fluid. I was rushed to the ER, I had a terrible infection. If your incision smells like you said, that means you have an infection. You need to get to your doctor or ER right away and get on anti biotics. My incision is still leaking clear fluid 3 weeks later. Good luck

I had 2 c-sections, with my both of my sons and i did leak after the incision, just a few dried spots on my underpants, although with my second i tore my incision open and had to be re glued. so the leaking was very persistent,As far as the itching and swelling, not sure on that one, i would call your gyno's office and make an appointment to get checked out, because that sounds more like an infection. congrats on the new baby and best of luck to you.

Discharge From C Section Incision

Mine leaked a little around one part of the stitches but it went away after a while and there was no redness or pain. That's how you would know it had gotten infected.

As it heals, the incision drains a little.

I've had two c-sections. The drainage sounds normal. I usually taped gauze across my incision to stop the drainage from bleeding through to my pants. A week or two after my second c-section, I began to itch on my chest, then my arms, then my whole body and I broke out in a nasty rash. The doctors said it was either a delayed reaction to the anesthetics (even though I had been through this before without reaction) or it was a stress rash. After 4 series of steroids, the rash and itching went away. Definately call your doc and have it checked out.

I had a c-section and it never "leaked" , also i was never itchy or swollen down there. I would just make an appoitment with your doctor, the itching, swollen and discharge sounds like an infection.

no i didn't. I had no leaking or vaginal swelling. I would call the docotor or even better, go to ER. Better to get it looked at sooner than later when it is worse.
