I am thinking of starting a new tradition: I am going to get their bodies stuffed and dedicate a room out of my house just for the shrine. To remember them all by, you know?

It will be just like the zoo, except with out movement...

You're about to become a Teutonic so a Viking burial at sea is your solution and its proper. besides it looks spectacular from the beach.

I have heard of people having the pets stuffed and placed out to remember them. I could not do that, it would be too strong a reminder of the loss of my friend along with the pain that goes with it. I would rather remember them in happier moments when alive, not stuffed and mounted. Besides, I always have plenty of pictures and I never forget any of them. They were my very good friends.

I just let the vet's office take care of them. After the life has left their body, it is too sad to think of a burial spot in my yard or something like that. They live on in my heart and memories.

I once heard a great saying....
"God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December."

I like that. Best wishes with whatever choice you make.

A bunch of people in Hollywood are already doing this practice.
I just hope to be there when my dog croaks within half an hour.
I figure I'll get a least 80 pounds of edible meat from the stiff.
Years of paying for dog food...I just hope to get a good meal, or two, out of the deal.
I'll probably make a Halloween costume out of the pelt.

When I was a child we had a special tree in the back yard underneath which we buried all of our dead pets. I clearly can recall many tree side services being held for dead pets. The odd thing is I do not have any memory of having pets ALIVE!! To this day I wonder if we got the pets already dead and just buried them under the dead pet tree!!!

We used to bury them , but now we live in an area with lots of scavengers, so we put the bodies in the woods and let the critters recycle them. If we bury them, they only get dug up and eaten anyway.

I have had all mine cremated and keep them on a special shelf in my home so they will always be with me . I couldn't have them stuffed that is only the fur and skin . They would discard the most important part ......the heart . Good luck in whatever decision you make .

you do whatever makes you the happiest. for some it is to have the pet cremated and keep the ashes, and for others the burial in the back yard, but as far as stuffing them and the memorial room, Roy Rogers did that with his horse, Trigger, and I believe with his dog, bullet as well.

when my pets died i just go by the old tree dig a deep hole wrap them in a favorite blanket and do a memorial service and then cry a lot....It makes me feel betterthat they are out of the pain and are in peace now.I had to get my dog a sleep then i took him in the car and got him ready for his burial. For a long time 'everytime i go by the tree' i still remember all the fun we had' until his heart gave out' on my peanut.,

skin 'em complete with the arms legs and head and then use them to make a conga drum, a tambourine, a nice pair of slippers or some sexy underwear for your boyfriend.
