Yes it is going to happen... but what is going to happen that is even bigger is the day when there is one global currency... that day is coming also. It will be here as soon as the .0001 of the capitalist wealthiest that run the world get finished completing the new world order.

It won't happen for three reasons:

1. The Federal Reserve is a private, for-profit corporation which will not give up its monopoly.

2. America and Canada have strong economies. We are both G-8 countries with relatively little corruption. Compare that with Mexico which has a weak economy and high inflation, and significant corruption.

3.Even if we were to opt out Mexico, Americans and Canadians take far too much pride in their social and cultural differences to ever settle on a single currency for both nations.

No, because Americans don't spend that much money abroad, and Canadanians and Mexicans don't spend that much money here. In Europe, it is common for people to vacation elsewhere on the continent, even for a few days, so you have frenchmen, dutchmen, englishmen, and germans all spending money in Norway at the same time. There is far less out-of-country excursions in North America.

God, I hope not. Although if it is offered to us, the ideal time would be to "bail out" our falling dollar when it is at its worst. The best thing we could have happen would be a second currency in America. If gold and silver were circulated at the same time as our dollar, people could choose which is better for themselves. The choice would be obvious once the dollar kept dropping and gold/silver continued to rise.

At the rate that Bush is destroying the dollar with his tax cuts for the rich and enormous spending on the war combined with interest rate cuts to keep the whole economy from utter collapse, I would suspect that the amero is the currency of the future here. All fiat currencies throughout history have collapsed. The U.S. dollar has lost 95% of its value since inception.

It's not likely to ever happen. In Europe, the Euro was such a success because a majority of the people on the continent travel frequently from nation to nation (In fact, going on vacation to another country in Europe is like going to another state in America). In North America, there are few people who frequently cross the border, and so it wouldn't be very practical.

Most likely, it would only happen, if Mexico and Canada were to adopt the U.S. Dollar. I believe, Americans are much to attached to their dollar to ever give it up.
