I'm just talking about the avatars - not 360s and all...

Or are they just "another" image that doesn't really matter?

I think it may give you some idea of the personality of the person who developed the avatar, but not a full understanding.

I generally ignore avatars unless the person uses an original picture. Then, sometimes, I can gain some insight.

I tried to make mine as close to me as possible. So sometimes is can be, but you won't know who or when so the real pics give more insight than avatars. But they can be really fun too!

Not really, coz most of the time they are not honest and they wants to impress peoples in here so they will post the most beautiful pic's of them even 15yrs back ...lol..... For me, i want to keep it this way (Avatar) coz i like exciting and interesting......invisible to everyone it will do!

somehow. I made my avatar considering my actual physical appearance and added backgrounds of places I love to go to, and accessories I like to use or say something about me.

To some extent, I would say yes it tells you how the mind works. The predominant thoughts, orientations, leanings, cultural background, favourite objects, clubs, food, perspectives and many more.

Nope. Not everyone puts their real image. Like my hair isn't exactly this shade of brown... but there're no closer shades to my strands, so... it's not accurate.
