If they actually admit that more horrible things are happening to our brave men and woman, then some people might actually get smart and support our troups. And then what kind of propaganda would they have to throw around? We all know bush is "special" and rides the little bus..... thats not worth pointing out.

I must have missed that in the news about US soldiers being captured and chopped up like hamburger. I've seen stories about contractors being ambushed and killed, or stories of journalist being captured and held hostage, but I somehow missed US soldiers being captured then chopped into pieces.

I think you need to realize that our new policy of "its not torture unless it results in death or organ failure" is something we need to live with for a long time.
If Bush gets his wish and we attack Iran, I hope you will be telling American troops to stop whining when they are captured and waterboarded, because you don't think its torture.
After WWII some members of the Japanese military were convicted by American during war crimes trails because of their use of waterboarding.

You have very adeptly demonstrated thier point. You justify torturing others because they torture. Others will logically do the same. If we want a better world and believe we are a nation of laws - we should start by setting an example and following our own.
Edit - and then you make the classic conservative argument. We are not as bad as the worse so we are ok. And conservatives have the nerve to call liberals moral relativists. Accepting moral standards from AQ is just pathetic. And to claim that someone else is "brainwashed" because you do not have the mental capacity to follow a logical argument is just demonstrating ignorance.

A vast majority of politicians are out of touch. Just look at the list of how many senators and congressmen are very wealthy, not like average people, and have no idea about the daily life of the masses and what is truly meaningful and important to us. On the other hand, more people vote for american idol than for their own government. Lots of blame to go around.

So u wana make (torture) legal !!!
I think if u try it one time u'll change ur opinion.
Most of the prisoners in guantanmu r not terrorists, they r just normal ppl who refused to see their country gets invaded by the us,so they decided to fight the invadors and thats not a crime, their is even kids between them who never did anything except that they r Afgans or Iraqies ,thats all their crimes.
I dont think they deserve to be tortured for that.
But in the other hand ,us soldiers deserve anything that happens to them there, cause they r invadors of other ppl land,
and when u invade ,dont expect to be welcomed with flowers.
but most of those prisoners r innocent and the us cant even send them to trials cause they have nothing against them.
remember ,u r the INVADOR.

Every one would like to think that as Americans we are above using something like water boarding to gain information but this is nothing new and methods more severe than water boarding have been used. One can say that this is wrong but under the right circumstances who can say what each of us might do to get information if it meant saving our lives or the lives of our friends or family.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Pretty basic.

We torture, it gives everyone on the planet the right to torture.

Aren't we supposed to be better then that and set the example for the world?

Seems we've lost that moral high ground somewhere down the line.

"why do the dems" your republican leader put our brave young men and women in a war BASED on a lie, so who is lying to themselves. If you allow such a horrible thing to take place WHAT comes next for us to allow to other humans.
Grow up and develop some morals and ethics that is lacking in our government right now.

If you can show me that waterboarding prisoners has stopped one US soldier from being killed in captivity then I'll listen to what you have to say.
