The guy complaining about sludge problem was extremely rare and didnt even occur in the celicas. The only known issue with a celica is that the 2000-2002 gt models a few have an oil issue where they burn a little oil. The 2000-2002 also have polycarbonate sunroofs which means they scratch easy but doesnt affect it mechanically. They changed the shift gates in the 2003 (only applies to the gt-s 6 speeds) to make them wider b/c little punk kids that dont know how to drive would miss gears and spin bearings and ruin the tranny. they are great cars and very low cost maintenance. Just routine stuff like keeping the oil changed, air filters, and belts. They have timing chains so you dont have to worry bout that.

There is a difference in some coolant types. Your car takes regular etholglycol coolant and any brand will work just fine. Make sure you mix it with water though. 50 50 solution.

Coolant is all the same weather it is made by Toyota or Another company. there are regulations that require every manufacture of coolant to meet the min. guidelines for vehicle use. The same applies to motor oil, and gasoline. Check with the (API ) American Petroleum Institute ratings on each container.

Coolant is all the same. The only thing that matters is how much water you mixed it with.
After I read Ronnie's comment, I looked into it, and I guess he's right for the most part. If its red use red coolant, if its green use green. The only thing I disagree with him is that you're coolant is most likely green.

There are only two kinds of coolant used.
Ones red, Ones green.
They are not to be change or mixed
They are not compatible.
Your car designed w/ dex cool, Red one most likely is what you should have in it.I'm not sure.
cannot be changed to green.you will eat the intake gaskets up along w/ others

As long as they used a quality brand you will be just fine. And I expect the folks at the repair shop know what mixture to use in your climate.
