When I was in 8th grade (maybe 9th) I'd be raising a rucus before algebra started about once or twice a week. The teach would ask us to stand out side after roll call, tehn the dean would walk around and anyway standing outside a class got 3 licks with a long wooden paddle...whack, whack, whack...it was like a religion...lol...me and a buddy once got caught sneaking across the street at lunch to buy candy at the 7-11...for that we went to the office...they threatened to suspend us just to scare us but settled on 10 licks...with a huge fiberglass paddle...that hurt!!! lol

Not freely, not nearly enough seeing what became of some of my classmates. Boys got it more than girls but not exclusively. I believe the strap should be brought back. The change being the school had to show to the parents it was needed, not just go do it. What I see in the general behavior of kids at school is that the pendulum has swung far the other way. Responsibility should be taught from kindergarten up and the strap will get dusty.

In my Jr. High the girls were paddled as well (no,not me)and the paddle was wood with a hole in the middle of it,for turbo smacking! My 7th grade male Science teacher would make you bend over, place your head in a cabinet then swat the kid, making them hit their head as they raised up in reaction to the swats! My 9th grade male teacher took the boys in the bathroom, picked them up by their belt loop or waistband of their pants and throw them, literally into the brick wall...This was in the later '60's...Kids today really whine ( in my opinion ) about such insignificant things
compared to what we went through, but hey times change ey?=)

We got strappings. Our principal would get out her little black strap and we'd hold out our hands and whack whack whack! Three straps for bad boys. I wonder what she's doing today?
