I am so sorry you have to go through that. You seem like such a nice, sweet and caring guy. Hopefully this year it will be different and the girl of your dreams will show up.
Most of us get lonely during christmas, and with me living in a different country I get very depressed without my family.

Unfortunately Christmas for many is a state of mind. We are told how important it is for families and for people getting together. This puts pressure on those who are alone at this time of year. It's a shame that family values and having a sociable attitude aren't made a priority at all times instead of one day of the year.
Either society changes its view or you will have to try to view Christmas quite differently in order not to feel lonely or try to put your energies into enjoying the company of other loved ones. Fact is that having a gf at Christmas is not the holy grail of holiday attainment. Attach importance to other things. Do some social work, visit elderly people who are REALLY alone. You never know; you might meet a girl who is doing the same work as you.

A lot of people feel this way, it's well known as the season that encourages depression.
I don't have a boyfriend, but I'm one of those people happy with my own company so it doesn't bother me too much. But even I sometimes feel that loneliness and regret.
The most amazing thing I've seen is a woman I know. 50 years old. She's an attractive, young-hearted woman who hasn't dated in 10 years (a long story behind it). She cut herself off. And then something happened that allowed her to feel open to relationships, she started to look for someone to be with. She would talk to men more and went on dating sites. She's taken up this new aspect of her life with zest and she's become a definite player.
The reason I told you this is to encourage you to remain open to a relationship even when it seems that you couldn't be more open but no ones taking the bait! Start a conversation today.

yes i do havent had Christmas with my folks in a few years. It's pretty hard being overseas and they are back home in the states and i'm missing Christmas again this year. It sucks..to be honest.
i do hope it gets better for you between now and Christmas. No one should have to spend Christmas by themselves whether it be with a gf/bf (whatever folks prefer) or best friend.

Oh you are not alone in feeling that way..I now have a special guy but prior to that I felt as you do,lonely and why me?The only thing I could do is surround myself with family & friends who really cared about me & that took my mind off of my own misery..I agree with Frogbutt, emmerse yourself in something to consume your thoughts, help others as well...Remember there is always someone out there that has it much worse than you do...and even some of them have Gf or Bf..=)

Try to find other ways to spend your time. Volunteer at your church or local "soup kitchen". You meet a lot of cool people at those places (other volunteers) and maybe you will meet someone. "Loving" doesn't exclusively mean a couples thing. Take your Grandma to lunch and let HER be your girl. There are lots of things to do to take your mind off of your loneliness. You just have to get up and do them! Good luck and WE love you!
