80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Maybe it's not such a purpose as a process.
Men have evolved in a process that makes them unique in the animal world.
Our intelligence proceeded from a survival instinct to an objective one setting us apart from all other animals.
No doubt the process has repeated itself billions of times throughout the universe.
We live in a universe that some way developed the capacity to become aware of itself and we appear to be the product of this awareness.
Maybe the purpose is strictly a process, after all.

Nothing under the sun is new.

But I have learned (and this is not new) that we are here to love. First and formost we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Then we love everyone else as we ourselves would want to be loved. These two are commandments and all of the law and prophets hang on these two.
Religion is mans way of worshiping God on our terms, that doesn't work. When we go to God we go to Him on His terms not ours. His way. That is why it is called "the way", because we live and love the way God teaches us.
Should we accept that and decide of our own free will to adopt the way of God and follow Him the best we can than there is so much more for us after we give up the ghost.
It is a common thought that we all have a spirit, WE DON'T! It is the spirit that has a body!! Please understand that because this is the only body our spirits have or will ever have and what we do in the here and now will decide our state of being forever.
Our purpose of life is to love. This assures us our eternity in God's presence. It is all up to the individual to accept or reject this.
It is up to you sir to love completely or not. To fullfill your purpose or not. The only valid source for this that I know of is the Bible. The Bible is not a do and don't collection of books, it is God revealing Himself to you and I and the rest of the world. But of course you decide on that yourself. It's called free will, God gave it to all of us.
God bless you and take care of you.

The real purpose of life is to live it as happily as possible but majority of us forget this purpose and get caught in the race of getting other things. This purpose is to be achieved by simply watching birds, mountains, rivers, clouds, and a child curiously looking at something.

To learn and become a better, more compassionate person as a result. You have to feel the pain to know what it is like, and then you can empathize with others, and if you channel the energy well, make a difference. All part of the journey towards perfection, towards God.

I believe< It is to enjoy life and teach other of the good things of life .To make all happy and knowledgeable for the better of mankind. And yes I'm requesting a praise for the lord.It surely deserves it.Look what we are doing to what he has created. You,Me,Space,Earth and Sea.If you believe in this stuff,if you don't that is your option.
I'm not preaching here just saying what I think. Go have a great day.

I don't believe you can LUMP SUM all of our purposes in life because we all have different ones. We achieve God's Grace through our actions. Your question is only your feelings on the matter and not mine. I am my own spokesperson. I get much more out of life with my purposes than one who sits idly by wondering why he/she is alive. If one doesn't LIVE LIFE one has wasted the moment.

No one will ever be able to really answer this question, as good as it is. Sometime I think we're here because God has a sense of humor.

the actual purpose of life is to be a blessing to others, and be godlike and not be so focused on ourselves. we were all created for the purpose of god's pleasure to help others, to be Christlike.

in a chase between a cat and mouse.

the mouse mostly wins because;

the cat is running for its food. and
the mouse is running for its life.

"PURPOSE IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN NEED"

the mouse purpose in his life is to eat food in the cupboard and chew my clothing

the cat's purpose is to burn calories and to sleep all day long.
