ha ha ha! I'm 31 and been saying these things for a while...since I had children I think. The best one is "what the hell are they teaching them in school these days?".....like it was hundreds of years ago since I was there......

I'm sixteen and I say all of those things! I definitely agree with the national service comment although I don't think thereare many who believe their country is worth fighting for nowadays which is sad because so many men lost their lives fighting for it in the first place - twice. There isn't much respect for authority - (some) teenagers think that being looked upon as cool by peers is more important than doing the right thing i.e. happy slapping. When I was in Belgium at the memorial, there was writing on the wall such as 'EPR waz ere!' and such. I was so disgusted at this - defacing a monument dedicated to men who died for us and some little **** thinks it's funny to be cool and draw on it. How childish. Some kids are little fuckers, they really are. But no, you're not old. You're just thinking the same as everyone else.

I'm only 22 and when I see gangs of high schoolers hanging out on a weeknight or in the mall, I just get so angry and wonder why parents feel the need to procreate. Even though it wasnt that long ago that I uses to be one of those kids, I just have a different point of view now.
On Halloween, I saw some little girls dressed up like street workers wearing practically nothing, and that too made me mad...when I also used to be one of those girls.
In college, I often saw drunk underaged kids running around the streets looking like complete idiots, and even though they are the same age as I am, I just really wanted to step down on the gas pedal and vroom!
I grew up with Full House and Family Matters. This kid in high school had no idea what I was talking about. THAT made me feel old.

I'm 34, too.
The older that I get it seems that I'm the exact opposite of what kids are perceived to be, and at the same time the exact opposite of what adults are perceived to be. I mean, I have responsibilities that I own up to and all that, but I'm becoming more and more liberal in thought and action. I don't really see a lot of kids like that today. Could it be that our youth has a more conservative state of mind? I think that it's possible.
Now by saying things like "our youth", it separates me from younger generations in an uncomfortable way. I'm not ready to be old, either.
It's possible that youth is also a state of mind as well as a measure of years. I tend to do things, when I feel old, that remind me of what I wanted to be capable of as a child so that I embrace age instead of scorn it.
We can drink adult beverages.
We don't have to answer to anyone but ourselves.
We're better at things than we used to be.
We're not yet ready for Geritol.
We see things in a different way because we're more experienced.
Hope that helps, bro!

I've been saying those things for years, and am just a few years older than you. They really should bring back national service. As soon as the kids reach 16 send them into the army for 5 years that would show them.

I'm 51 , my youngest kid is 17 but I often say to the boys "Look listen to somebody who knows" and give them the good old "When I was your age I could go out, get drunk, have some chips, catch the bus home and still have change from a quid"
It happens to us all.
The worse thing for me was when I realised that I was saying the same things to my kids that my parents used to say to me, that is really sad.
