Loren (rather than Lauren, not pronounced Law-wren)
Zahra (rather than Zara)
Jaxon (rather than Jackson)
Zavier (rather than Xavier)

what would you think? are they still easily recognisable?

the reason I like them is partially because its spelt more like how it is pronounced (here is oz anyway).
Also hubby, me and our 2 kids have 5 letter names (co-incidence only not intentional) and I thought it would be nice to give the 3rd a five letter name. (except zavier, I just like the name with a 'z')

does this influence your opinion at all. are they good enough 'reasons'?

I'm not intentionally looking for unique spellings, just spellings that seem to fit with the rest of our names. I still like tradtional spellings. My other kids are Eliza and Isaac.

You have some nice names here. I have to assume you are looking for "unique" spellings? I am not a fan of unique spellings, and I think (and, frankly, assume) that lately, as everyone else is looking for "unique" spellings, you might actually be MORE unique by spelling the names in the traditional manner. All that said, I don't think the unique spellings you listed would cause too many problems, as they are quite phonetic.

Although the spellings you picked out are not 'incredibly out there' (as some people like to do), I would recommend sticking with the most common of the ways. You do have a good reason, and I actually don't think it will much matter with Zahra, given that it is so unique not many people would really know how to spell it anyway (not that it is that hard, just people would ask regardless and not just spell away). I also think you are safe with Zavier, because that is a fairly common way to go. I would say it is half-half with the X and the Z. But with Loren and Jaxon, I would stick with the regular spellings. Especially Jaxon, only because I think the way you have there is rather odd. I have spent my life correcting my very common name that is spelled uncommonly, it is getting old!

Loren (rather than Lauren, not pronounced Law-wren)
Fine ... for a boy. Loren is almost ALWAYS considered a masculine name. It's a short form of Lorenzo or alternate of Lorne, both male. When it's used "rather than Lauren," it's simply a misspelling. Can't say I care for that.

Zahra (rather than Zara)
Depends which pronunciation you prefer. Zara AND Zaira, which isn't listed here, are generally said ZAYR-a, like Sara(h) with a Z, if you follow. The H in Zahra usually indicates a different A sound (I've heard both ZA-ra and ZAH-ra/ZAW-ra).

Jaxon (rather than Jackson)
Far less classic and more trendy than traditional Jackson, but I'd still be relieved it wasn't an out-right phonetic nightmare, like the stereotypical Jaxson type misspellings. LOL

Zavier (rather than Xavier)
I'd assume the parents liked Xavier, but didn't actually know how to spell it (and couldn't be bothered to look it up LOL). Especially since most DO know how to say Xavier, and the number of letters don't even change, in this case, so I'm not certain I see the point in altering it.

I don't like Loren, Jaxon, or Zavier. I think the originals are pronounced right as it is, you don't need to make it easier.

I am partial to Zahra, though, as it's my middle name, but Zara is fine too. Zahra is actually the original, though.

Not good: Zavier, Loren, Jaxon.

I like Zahra...

I like Jaxon & Zavier, but the other two just look a little weird to me. We actually had Jaxon (same spelling) picked out for one of our boys, and I actually prefer Zavier rather than Xavier.

All of them are good except Zahra and Loren. People will pronounce Lo-ren instead of Law-ren. Zahra is just look too funky and misspell.

I like all of them spelled the way you have them. They are recognizable, and there's nothing wrong with spelling names a little bit differently! I'm partial to Loren and Jaxon, myself.

Just be careful whatever you do cause my husbands ex named our now 10 year old Makalya and pronounces it makayla and she had a second daughter with her now husband and named or Ahlivia instead of Olivia. really does it matter how it's spelled if it sounds the same?? Makalya is constantly having to say how her name is spelled to everyone from new friends to new teachers not to mention we cannot find anything with her name on it. If it is personalized it has to be taken somewhere to have done especially for her.

I think your child would be labelled forever as someone who's mother was semi-literate.

Lauren isn't pronounced the way you think it is - at least in English, anyway

Please, do us all a favour and spell it right. My given name is very traditional but a tad uncommon and people rarely get it (let alone spell it) right. My surname has a number of spellings and people round here NEVER get it right even when I spell it for them slowly and WATCH them write it down.

You might think you're being trendy but the poor kid has to live with it
