Did you buy it (if so, why?) or was it given to you?

I have just finished "Grace Notes" which was lent to me and I really enjoyed it. I've now started "Poisoned Cherries" which was a Christmas present but I'm only on the first chapter so can't really comment, although I really like the author's style. It's very Brit. Very wry.

I also love the Harry Potter books; Rowling has a very clever way of drawing the reader in.

Which is your favourite book of all time?

I'm not sure that I can choose...I have favourites from childhood ("Pippi Longstocking") but I read books which cover all sorts of genres. I'm a big fan of Agatha Christie but then I was extremely moved by the "Child called It" series.

What do you think?

Hi Zoe S,
(love your avatar, very cute!)

I just finished "The Wednesday Letters" by Jason F Wright, pretty good and made me want to write to all of my family.

Might sound crazy, but after seeing the movie the "Godfather" about a million times I read the book by Mario Puzo and haven't forgotten how much I liked it.

Happy reading! oh yeah, mostly I get my books from the library.

A lot of questions wrapped up in one...I just started reading Moon Women by Pamela Duncan - Ruth Ann's life is turned upside down when she takes in her elderly mother, her pregnant nineteen-year-old daughter, and her ex-husband, in a story of three generations of women separated by a long-hidden family secret. It is a library book that I decided to read because the author is coming to a book fair at a library in the system where I work (I'm a librarian). So far it is pretty interesting but I'm only 50 or so pages in.

I can't pick a favorite book of all time - last year I probably would have said Jane Eyre - it is still one of my favorites. Since I got the job at the library I've discovered a lot of new books, my favorite now would have to be all 6 books in the Outlander series by Gabaldon it was incredible.

The Man Who Smiled ---by Henning Mankell.Translated by Laurie Thompson.I use the library. My favourite book of all time is The darling Buds of May , by H.E.Bates(they made a tv series).I used to be a civil servant and like Mr Charleton, in the story ,I too escaped. It is a very happy book.As a child I read the "William" books by Richmel Crompton. These are funny books ---and like William(Although I am a girl) I was the youngest child with a grown up brother and sister.I love crime stories and Agathas tales.I like Dick Francis and a good murder tale.I prefer books based in the UK as I can Identify with them easier.Without the library I fear I would be bankrupt------ the amount of reading I do.I could never afford all the books I take out.

I'm currently reading "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" by Anne Bronte. It's very good. I bought it for 30p from our local library.

Yes, I like the HP books too. My son is currently reading the latest Alex Rider book "Snakehead". I've read the first chapter and am looking forward to reading it when he's finished it.

The Agatha Christie books that I like are the Tommy and Tuppence series. Postern of Fate, Partners in Crime, N or M and another couple of books, whose names I can't remember.

I find it very difficult to pick just one book of all time, so I'll give you a list.

Last Years Nightingale by Claire Lorrimer
No Name by Wilkie Collins.
Oliver Twist by Dickens
David Copperfield by Dickens
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.
Five on a Hike Together by Enid Blyton
The Boy Next Door by Enid Blyton
The Enchanted Wood bv Enid Blyton
The Spinning Wheel by Claire Lorrimer
Roots by Alex Hailey

I liked Nancy Drew, Sue Barton and the Bobbsey twins too.

Well, now I'm reading "Around the world in eighth days" by Julio Verne, it is an Amazing book, I like it, it describes the landscapes of many places, the tongue that Verne uses is excellent, I bought it one year ago in an international Book fair in Mexico city, it was 15 pesos, about 1 pound or euro, and I like the book so much, if you can, read it,

I hate Harry Potter Books, they are a commercial books, and boring.

I am re-reading The Red Dragon by Thomas Harris just now. Really love the Harry Potter books. All time favourite? Maybe the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, except the last book was slightly disappointing; PWA by Oscar Moore; Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes; A Star Called Henry by Roddy Doyle - so many really that I love to re-read from time to time.

I'm currently reading the Artemis Fowl series and they're on loan from the library.

I also liked Harry Potter, Eragon and the Lord of the Rings, but then again you can give me any kind of fantasy book and I'll probably be able to get lost in it!

Next in line for will be Stephanie Meyers' books.

Rose Tremain - The Colonels daughter
I have enjoyed every book of Rose Tremain's especially 'The Colour' I found this one in a 2ND hand bookshop - It is okay but I find short stories a little bit unsatisfying.
My favourite book of all time is Ursula le Guins trilogy Earthsea and the sequel that was written 15 years later Tehanu.
I have seen recently that Studio Ghibli who do the amazingly beautiful cartoons have just done a version of it and I can't wait.

I'm currently reading jane austen's "sense and sensibility". Before that i read "Princess Bride" by William Goldman. It wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be.
I pretty much read any book that i get my hands on. Can't really decide on my all time favourite, but being a hopeless romantic, i like books by bagshawe, kinsella, fielding and the same from more classical authors like austen & the bronte sisters. Didn't really like Nicholas Sparks. I found his writing to be... too abrubt. Maybe i shouldn't have watched the movies before reading the books!

Just finished: The Dark Chamber by Leonard Cline. I got it from Paperback Swap. It was just okay.

Now reading: No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy. I got it free as part of a movie promo. Not the usual kind of thing I read, but it's pretty good so far.

Favorite of all time: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
