The only curse was the racist policy of former ownership of Tom Yawkey which lasted until 1959. While other teams moved past the red sox signing many black African American players. The red sox could have had on their teams in the 50s players as Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays. The good ol' boys played but never won anything until 1967 when they began having more black players.

It means we had 86 years of turture, and were going to keep winning until all the players who have played for the red sox, but never won a World Series get rewarded. We will win a World Series for every decade in which the red sox did not win.

The Cubs on the other hand, have a goat curse that they can't seem able to break. Good Luck Cubs on doing it before the 100 season.

The curse is over (it was a fun 86 years, but all good things must come to an end) However another curse could be on the way. A.Rod is looking for a team, and your one of the front runners. It's funny how everything you hate about the Yankees, is becoming the Redsox way. The super high payroll, the sense of entitlement, and the obnoxiousness (which you always had). If you sign A.Rod your conversion to the evil empire would be complete. Not only that but the October poison will be in your veins. I for one will never stop laughing.

Justin T, does that 140 million include the 50mil they paid for the opportunity to sign Dice K? If not, It's 190mil. we're talking Yankee numbers now.

The curse is over because the Red Sox have a $140 million payroll.

That kind of spending would end any curse.

If it wasn't a curse then, would Red Sox fans rather hear they sucked for 86 years. I think there was sort of a curse & now it's over. Maybe Cubs will end their years of frustration & win a World Series.

The only curse that was ever on the Red Sox were the Yawkey's hiring people to run the team because they were good drinking buddies and not because they knew anything about baseball.

Now they have baseball smarts at top along with a huge payroll. That will trump any curse.

The curse was just something that was joked about, and of course never existed, so the question isn't answerable ... unless you actually believe in such a things as curses :O

What it really means is the Red Sox won 2 World Series in 4 years (and George Stienbrenner did not buy enough high money players).

There was never a curse, I just think they couldnt win.. but theres was never a curse.

The Media asked Francona, If there was ever a curse or did it leave this yr, He said I think it left long before 2004 or something like that i know he said something about the curse.. I highly doubt that there was one..

No, all those fans that believe in a curse will just come up with another one.
