Yes, you only have to look at some of the videos on u tube etc to find behaviour which would normally get you arrested...but there is everyone thinking it is a great giggle....these sites have an awful lot to answer for....and it will get worse believe me, with everyone trying to outdo everyone else in the 'Oooo I don't believe it stakes' Its only about your fifteen minutes of fame now.....

Yes, the internet definitely allows weirdos to feel normal by enabling them to find others with the same perversions, and therefore making their behaviour seem acceptable.
I don't know how much of this applies to the Meredith Kercher case, but it does seem that those involved had displayed weird obsessions.
Unfortunately I don't think policing the internet is a viable preventative. It's so huge, and as long as there are people out there with dodgy fixations, closing down one site is like cutting off the head of a hydra.... three grow back in its place.

Maybe people who read disturbing blogs or see disturbing pictures on other people's web pages should take them a bit more seriously, and report them, as some of these people possibly need psychological help. The girl who's apparently confesed to taking part in Meredith's murder had written a story about a rape on her myspace page. It's like when the Virginia Tech shooter wrote about graphic murder.(albeit not on the net)

The Internet is a very frightening place. And yes I do believe it helps the weirdos with their behavior. This year I innocently put a video of my 10 year old singing on youtube. Some sicko left a dirty comment about it. I clicked on his profile and noticed he had left even sicker comments on other sites...all little girls. I reported him to youtube and to the Metropolitan police for Internet crime. His account was soon deleted and I hope he was investigated too. I have since taken my daughters video off. And with Facebook I only ever add people I know and am so strict with my privacy settings!!

Internet is a place of speech with maximum freedom, as long as you are able to turn your information into digital form and place them into some web-site.
Under the human right, the freedom of speech must be respect and protected.
Nevertheless, spreading terrorism, child-porn and slavism are prohibited.
About policing internet, authorities do check on internet daily. However, since internet is borderless, no one authority can handle it. If someone placed dirty works from outside your country, your country can do little on that someone.
If you do feel sick on those terrible picture, try to use a parental filter.

When you have children enjoying scenes of gratuitous violence on their Xbox's,play stations and computers they grow up thinking that is not only normal but also acceptable. We reap what we sow.
